While waiting for Calici di Stelle, toast to life! - July 8th at Villa Gianna

  • 03/07/2026

On July 8th, at Villa Gianna (Sabaudia - Latina), young people and families meet in the cellar to rediscover the culture of wine and the value of conscious drinking.

On the Circeo coast, an evening promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino and the Domenico Cirillo Foundation, in collaboration with Wine in Moderation, will engage with new generations through sensory games, astronomical observations, and sharing.

A glass shared between parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, to transform an ancient family tradition into a contemporary message of knowledge, responsibility, self-care, and attention to others.

This is the aim of “Waiting for Glasses of Stars, Toast to Life!” , the initiative promoted by the Wine Tourism Movement and the Domenico Cirillo Foundation , in collaboration with Wine in Moderation – Unione Italiana Vini , scheduled for Wednesday 8 July, from 6.30 pm to 11.00 pm, at the winery, a member of the Lazio Wine Tourism Movement, Villa Gianna in Sabaudia , on the suggestive Circeo coast.

An evening of celebration and sharing designed to introduce young adults to wine in a simple, direct, and engaging way, presenting it not as a means of excess, but as an expression of culture, territory, conviviality, and moderation.

The event precedes Calici di Stelle , the Movimento Turismo del Vino's summer event, and chooses the winery as the ideal place to meet with the new generations, to listen to their language and offer more current, participatory wine education that is closer to their habits.

" Educating young people about a proper and responsible relationship with wine means, first and foremost, offering them knowledge, without impositions or top-down lessons," says Violante Gardini Cinelli Colombini, president of the Movimento Turismo del Vino . " We must find smarter, more immediate, and engaging ways to tell the new generations that behind a glass of wine lie territories, people, work, and culture. This evening was created precisely to introduce young people to wine in a festive and informal, yet respectful and informed, atmosphere, fostering dialogue between young people, families, and producers."

The initiative symbolically revives a long-standing tradition in Italian families: the moment when a father, mother, or grandparent offered a young adult their first glass of wine, accompanying it with stories and recommendations. Not an invitation to drink, but a transfer of knowledge and responsibility, through which wine entered adult life as an integral part of the table, family culture, and social life.

Today, that gesture is reinterpreted in an inclusive and contemporary way, to encourage dialogue between generations and demonstrate that quality wine requires time, curiosity, attention, and moderation.

"In memory of my son Domenico, we want to promote greater awareness and behavioral education among young people based on ethical and social responsibility," says Ernesto Maria Cirillo, president of the Domenico Cirillo Foundation . " The true strength of the Foundation lies in the overwhelming participation of young people, Domenico's friends, and all those who have chosen to transform the pain of his passing into a concrete commitment to the community. They are the ones who carry these messages forward, speaking to their peers with authenticity and credibility."

A day filled with unique events: the evening will begin with a Sunset Welcome, launching the tasting experience inside the winery, with a non-alcoholic corner available throughout the evening. Starting at 8:00 PM, "Vitae" will begin, a format aimed at young people between 18 and 35, designed to talk about wine through the language of the new generations. A tasting will be accompanied by sensory games and interactive quizzes on choosing the right glass and exploring the aromas, demonstrating that excellent wine needs to be observed, listened to, and savored to be truly understood, through an experience built around discovery, discussion, and participation. The opening will also feature food stands, featuring local products and traditional dishes, live music throughout the evening, and the screening of an emotional video created by the winery to celebrate the Foundation's work.

At 9:30 pm, it's time for " Generations in the Vineyard," a series of walks through the early evening light, during which we'll discuss the work in the vineyard, the rhythms of nature, and the main stages of winemaking. This will be followed by a guided tasting with various pairings to learn to recognize the aromas, characteristics, and identity of each grape variety. This learning and fellowship experience is for the whole family, designed to ensure that older generations pass on the value of "knowing how to drink," while younger generations share their relationship with wine and new forms of social interaction. As evening falls, it's time for the "Under the Same Sky " event: accompanied by an astronomer, guests will be able to observe the stars, learning about the constellations and visible planets, and discovering the fascinating tales and myths surrounding the cosmos, highlighting the centuries-old connection between the movement of celestial bodies, humanity, and the cycle of nature.

Then comes "Hero of the Night," one of the evening's most original moments, dedicated to those who choose to abstain from drinking to ensure a safe return home. The designated driver will receive the special "Hero of the Night" award and be celebrated as the true, responsible leader of the group. They won't be excluded from the experience, but will be treated to a dedicated food tour, featuring original, non-alcoholic beverages designed to pair with typical local products.

"Hosting this precious event means opening the doors of our winery to a new way of experiencing and sharing wine ," emphasizes Benedetta Giannini, fourth-generation member of Cantina Villa Gianna . " For me and my family, it's important that young people approach this world through an authentic experience of people, places, and shared emotions. These values bind us to the Foundation and the Wine Tourism Movement, and we want to continue these values with this journey to build an increasingly informed and mature approach to wine."

"Waiting for Calici di Stelle, Toast to Life!" is also launching the Wine Passport, a small digital guide accessible simply by scanning a QR code at the entrance. It will guide guests throughout the experience with interesting facts and tips for a thoughtful tasting. The event will therefore be much more than a tasting: a meeting between generations, a cultural experience, and a celebration showcasing wine as an expression of beauty, terroir, sharing, and responsibility.
