What to do on Valentine's Day? The classic romantic dinner, the inevitable red roses... but why not break the mold, taking advantage of the Valentine's Day to also treat yourself to a visit to a truly unusual place, which celebrates a love story waiting to be discovered?
The occasion is the one proposed by Casa Caveau del Vino Santo Trentino Doc : special opening from 6.00pm to 8.00pm for a "candlelight" visit to the interactive wine museum of Padergnone, a hamlet of Vallelaghi, dedicated to the story and valorisation of Vino Santo Trentino, which represents not only one of the excellences of the region's wine heritage, but is also the wine resulting from the longest drying in the world.
The love story is precisely that between the winemakers who passionately take care of the maturation of this extraordinary product and the territory where the Nosiola grape vineyards, a prized and iconic variety of these lands, are located. Only the large grapes, well spaced from each other and ripe at the right point, are left to dry on racks called àrele and left caressed, in the months following the harvest, by the breeze called Ora del Garda, and then pressed during Holy Week. A rest of at least four years, but often much longer, awaits them in exhausted oak barrels, before bottling. This is why the yield is very low, but the final product, with its amber yellow colour, retains exceptional qualities: intense aroma of dates and dried figs, sweet taste balanced with the right acidity.
To celebrate it worthily in 2020, on the occasion of Valentine's Day, Casa Caveau was inaugurated. The objective was to enhance and give new life to the Padergnone drying plant, which had been disused for years. The conservative restoration, the reconversion and the subsequent setup of the museum have made it possible to give prestige to an absolutely unique wine, which tells one of the most evocative stories of Trentino oenology.
The anniversary of Valentine's Day 2024 therefore coincides with the fourth anniversary and with the relaunch of the structure, which in the coming months will be animated by a series of initiatives, as well as being open to the public on the usual days of Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
The appointment for lovers is on Wednesday 14 February, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, in the premises of Casa Caveau, to discover a journey made of history, scents, sensations, images and stories. At the end of this evocative experience, lasting approximately 30 minutes, a toast of Vino Santo accompanied by themed sweets.
Entrance with visit and tasting costs 10 euros per couple. No reservation is required. For info, contact Casa Caveau Vino Santo on 353 4037389 or by writing to casacaveauvinosanto@gmail.com.
