TWELFTH EDITION OF WINES FROM EXTREME LANDS 19/20 NOVEMBER 2023

  • 05/11/2023

A path dedicated to heroic viticulture begins, which is the result of peasant effort and dedication, both marked by the inaccessible areas and arduous slopes where the vineyards are located, so difficult to conquer. This initiative is dedicated to them. Starting from Sunday 19 November, three important MasterClasses, open to the public of professional operators and wine lovers, will accompany the tastings with tasting tables from over forty heroic wineries.

MasterClass open to professional operators, wine lovers and media. “The courage to be unique: Aware Kilometer Landscape”. The awareness scenarios that start from the vineyard: recovery, the vines, the strategies for the future. Tasting of eight heroic labels from the "Cantine del Recupero". The Recovery Winemakers Network is made up of custodians of the land, protagonists in the vineyard and of stories that are the culture of places and people. They recover tradition in the field, reuse abandoned land and vines, always preserving and safeguarding the territories and the landscape and their biodiversity. The Recovery Winemakers Network is open and inclusive for all those who have a conscious and sustainable approach, and it is natural that it is made up of winemakers from different places, histories and paths, from young enthusiasts such as Andrea Peradotto, and the Braccia Rese group , up to established and recognized winemakers such as Mauro Giardini, Francesco Bordini, Elisabetta Foradori and Mateja Gravner. The tasting will be led by Carlo Catani , author and president of the Tempi di Ricupero Association who will then present his book "The conscious kilometre". Number limited upon reservation. Monday 20 November - 11.30am MasterClass open to professional operators, wine lovers and media. “The courage to be unique: the heroic wines of Basilicata”. Tasting of eight heroic Lucanian labels. Basilicata: a rectangle of land that has always been a crossroads of peoples and a hotbed of different languages and cultures, this is Basilicata, or Lucania, whatever you want to call it. Matera, the city of the Sassi and its cultural and architectural soul is a magnificent example of this. But this land is also famous for its centuries-old olive trees, the "best in the world" bread, according to the Latin poet Horace, and the very ancient vines and wines produced from these, dating back to the times of the Lucanians first and then the Greeks. The ancient Romans themselves praised these nectars and today, as then, we can appreciate them starting from that Aglianico which is undoubtedly, of all, the most renowned and representative. The tasting will be guided by Paolo Ianna (Wine expert) and Renato Grando (Teacher, food historian). Number limited upon reservation. Monday 20 November - 3.30pm MasterClass open to professional operators, wine lovers and media. “The courage to be unique: extreme vintage bubbles”. Federico Bovarini (Master Sommelier ALMA, best sommelier of Lombardy 2023 AIS) will lead the tasting of ten labels of sparkling wines, classic methods of old vintages, coming from ten inaccessible areas of the Peninsula. Number limited upon reservation. Limited places – max 48
