September opens with a double commitment for the Valtènesi wineries: on the one hand, work among the rows, where the harvest is now in full swing, and on the other, a busy calendar of events that will bring the wines of the denomination to the forefront of some of the main events on the Garda Riviera.
" The 2026 harvest in Valtènesi and the Riviera del Garda Classico area began a few days earlier than last year. The first wineries began harvesting around August 19th, focusing on grapes destined for rosé production. For most wineries, however, the harvest of red grapes destined for DOC wines only really got underway around August 25th. The first impressions coming from the vineyards are decidedly positive and paint a very encouraging picture from a quality standpoint ," comments Paolo Pasini, president of the Valtènesi Consortium . " The grapes appear healthy, balanced, and perfectly ripe. Despite a slight reduction in yield compared to initial expectations, a consequence of the high temperatures recorded during the season and some weather events affecting the area, we expect wines capable of fully expressing the identity of the Valtènesi region. It's still too early to draw definitive conclusions, but the start of the harvest suggests the promise of a very interesting vintage ."
While the aroma of must is already wafting through the cellars, the Consortium is preparing for a September packed with initiatives dedicated to promoting the region and its fruits.
There will also be important local collaborations, such as participation in the Centomiglia del Garda awards ceremony on September 6th and 7th. This historic regatta continues to be one of the lake's most iconic sporting events, and the Consortium will once again support an event that attracts crews and enthusiasts from across Italy and abroad.
Among the scheduled events, the event on September 12th, the Giardini della Casa del Vino , stands out. It will celebrate the wines of the appellation in one of the symbolic locations of the Valtènesi, the cloister and park of Villa Galnica. During the event, the "Sante Bonomo" award ceremony for the best Groppello-based red wine of the year will take place.
On September 13th, the Consortium will also be a protagonist at Padernello a Tavola , an initiative organized at Padernello Castle in collaboration with local restaurateurs, where the wines of Valtènesi, Riviera del Garda Classico and San Martino della Battaglia will accompany a journey dedicated to local gastronomic excellence.
On September 27th , it will be the turn of Salò Golosa , an event that will bring the best interpreters of taste and agri-food production to the heart of the Garda town, offering the public the opportunity to discover and taste the labels of the denomination.
The calendar culminates on October 4th with "Profumi di Mosto," the annual event that opens the doors of the wineries of Valtènesi and the Riviera del Garda Classico. A day dedicated to discovering the region during the most evocative time of year, when the air is scented with must and the harvest draws to a close, allowing visitors to enjoy an authentic experience among the vineyards, tastings, and meetings with the producers.
With its rows of vines ablaze with autumn colors and a packed calendar of events, Valtènesi confirms its role as a protagonist in a September that extends the Garda summer and invites residents and tourists to discover the most authentic side of the Garda Classico Riviera. A season filled with work in the vineyards, wines being born, and opportunities for gatherings that reveal the identity of a unique territory.
