The Valpolicella Negrar winery celebrates its 90th anniversary since its foundation.

  • 23/08/2023

Founded on 23 August 1933, it was a key player in the history of Amarone, one of the most famous and loved Italian wines in the world

In honor of this milestone, a new video entitled "Amarone. At the origins" was launched on social media, in particular on LinkedIn and Facebook. This video will be an integral part of the new Cantina Valpolicella Negrar website, expected online in Italian and English by the end of 2023.

The winery was established with an imprint of promptness and innovation. Since its origins, it has been ready to defend the identity and value of the territory, producing high quality wines from the historic Valpolicella area, known today as "Valpolicella Classica". It has distinguished itself for having bottled its wines a good fifty years before many other Italian cooperative wineries, with the aim of reaching the largest possible number of customers. In the thirties of the last century, it introduced the first bottle of Amarone with the "Amarone Extra" label, keeping a precious specimen in its vault, which bears witness to historical primacy.

The success of the Valpolicella Negrar winery was led by seven Veronese founding partners: Gaetano Dall'Ora, Carlo Vecchi, Giovanni Battista Rizzardi, Marco Marchi, Pier Alvise Serego Alighieri, Silvio Graziani and Attilio Simonini. These visionaries have established an approach based on expertise and technology, which has made the winery an authoritative point of reference both in Italy and abroad for the Amarone, Appassimento and Ripasso wine categories. The winery has always focused on quality, based on principles of stylistic recognition and environmental, ethical and economic sustainability.

The celebration of the first 90 years of history will be an important moment for the Valpolicella Negrar winery, with over 240 conferring members, and the objective of further enhancing the territory, which includes over 700 hectares of vineyards, mainly in the Classic area of Valpolicella.
