On the occasion of the international event dedicated to "good, clean and fair wine" promoted by Slow Wine taking place from 25 to 27 February 2024 in Bologna, the Piedmontese association that promotes and protects the Freisa vine will present itself united to tell visitors the history and characteristics of one of the most identifying vines in the area.

It is well known that wine-growing Piedmont is characterized by native vines of the highest level and certified quality wines, but the great attention that the Freisa vine has been receiving in recent times, the protagonist of a true "Renaissance", is undoubtedly a relatively recent phenomenon. ”. Demonstrating the growing interest that is developing around this ancient and prized Piedmontese vine - which with its almost 1000 hectares of vineyards and its diffusion from the Turin area to the Basso Monferrato Astigiano to the Langhe, to the Colli Tortonesi, is divided into seven DOC - The Più Freisa Association will present itself together with its producers to tell and taste Freisa in all its uniqueness during the Slow Wine Fair event which will be held in Bologna from 25 to 27 February . "It is with great enthusiasm - declares Vitaliano Maccario, President of the Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato Consortium - that we support this initiative, which aims to enhance the vine and increase knowledge of its territories of origin and their unique peculiarities. In fact, Freisa, once not adequately appreciated, is experiencing a true rebirth, becoming one of the most popular Piedmontese varieties and this fills us with pride." The producers of the Association will be present during the event with their tasting stands, at which it will be possible to taste different Freisa labels and, exceptionally, some Albugnano DOC proposals from the members of Albugnano 549. It will also be possible to delve deeper into the Freisa's story by participating on Monday 26 February at 5pm in Hall 20 in the Masterclass dedicated to the vine. As Giancarlo Gariglio, editor of the Slow Wine guide, who will lead the masterclass, says , "many winemakers from Langa and Monferrato have understood its highly contemporary characteristics such as the crunchy fruit, spice, fragrant drink that is complex but without being heavy. Furthermore, Freisa demonstrates a pairing ability like few other Italian wines have. The result of all this is a renewed interest both on the part of the winemakers, who return to producing it, both restaurateurs and enthusiasts who have resumed purchasing and loving it. In short, there is all the air of an ongoing renaissance and the Slow Wine Fair which has the ambition of intercepting new trends before others notice realize and lead the way could not miss the golden opportunity to organize a Masterclass that offers different vintages and territories to fully understand both the characteristics of the vine and its plasticity depending on the soil in which it is planted."
