September is confirmed as one of the most significant months for promoting wine and the Asti region. The Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato Consortium will be among the protagonists of the 2026 Douja d'Or, scheduled in Asti from September 11th to 20th, and the subsequent Festival delle Sagre, scheduled for September 12th and 13th.
The Consortium's participation in the Douja d'Or takes on an even more special significance this year as it coincides with an important milestone: the 80th anniversary of the Consortium's founding, an anniversary that testifies to a long history of protecting, enhancing, and promoting the wine denominations of Monferrato and Piedmont.
" The Douja d'Or and the Festival delle Sagre have always been a fundamental showcase for the winemaking heritage of our region and the work of the wineries that preserve its quality and identity ," says Filippo Mobrici, president of the Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato Consortium . " This year's edition of the Douja takes on a particularly significant significance because it coincides with the eightieth anniversary of the Consortium's founding. It's an anniversary we want to celebrate by looking to the future, continuing to promote our denominations through initiatives that engage an ever-wider audience, from traditional tastings to new forms of wine consumption and communication. During the Douja, Palazzo Alfieri will be the ideal place to enjoy a complete experience that unites culture, food and wine, and the region. Here, the public will be able to participate in tastings featuring labels from member wineries, enjoy tasting experiences, and deepen their knowledge of the protected denominations ."
Inside the prestigious Palazzo Alfieri venue, a restaurant will also be open for the entire duration of the event. The restaurant, created in collaboration with the "Scuola alberghiera di Agliano Terme e Asti", will offer a menu designed to showcase the local excellence, with dishes carefully selected to pair perfectly with wines from the appellations represented by the Consortium.
On Thursday, September 17th, there will also be a focus on new consumer trends with a mixology event. A bartender will guide guests through the creation of three cocktails based on Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Grignolino d'Asti DOC, and Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato DOC, offering a contemporary and engaging take on local production.
The Consortium will also be a protagonist at the Festival delle Sagre , scheduled for 12 and 13 September, with a dedicated stand in Piazza Campo del Palio , a point of reference for thousands of visitors who every year take part in one of the most eagerly awaited events of September in Asti.
Some of the main protected appellations will be represented at the Consortium space, including Barbera d'Asti DOCG, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato DOCG, Grignolino d'Asti DOC, Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco DOC, and Piemonte DOC with its most representative white wines, as well as Moscato d'Asti DOCG and the various nuances of Brachetto. Through tastings and public meetings, the Consortium will offer the opportunity to discover the richness and diversity of Monferrato's winemaking heritage. Tastings will be available for purchase during the Festival or, in advance, at the following link:
The Consortium's participation in the Douja d'Or and the Festival delle Sagre confirms its commitment to promoting the region's wine production and strengthening the connection between wine, culture, tradition, and hospitality, elements that make Monferrato one of the most dynamic and popular wine tourism destinations in Italy.
