The Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato Consortium will be the protagonist at the Milano Wine Week 2024 with a day entirely dedicated to it, which will be held at Palazzo Bovara on Wednesday 9 October . The event is part of the European campaign "Born Sustainable" , created in collaboration with the Consorzio Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG and the Consorzio del Roccaverano DOP, and co-financed by the European Union. The initiative aims to raise awareness among consumers and operators in the sector on the importance of responsible consumption, promoting respect for the environment at every stage of production and consumption of these high-quality products, involving five countries: Italy, France, Germany, Sweden and Denmark. On October 9, the Consortium will not only have the opportunity to highlight its environmental commitment with an event that will celebrate the excellent food and wine products and the virtuous practices adopted by the associated companies, but also to introduce the public to its different denominations and the unique identity of the wines of Monferrato, recounting the thousand nuances that make this wine region so extraordinary and varied. "Participating in the Milano Wine Week - says the President of the Consortium Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato Vitaliano Maccario - represents for the Consortium a unique opportunity to introduce our wines and present, on a prestigious stage, our concrete commitment to safeguarding the territory. The 'Born Sustainable' campaign allows us to express the deep bond with our lands and promote the innovative practices that characterize our production, not only as food and wine excellence, but as an example of respect for the environment and protection of local traditions".
The day of October 9th will be full of events, starting from the opening talk: “ Flavours of the protected territories of Europe between authenticity and sustainability . SUSTAINABILITY BEYOND CERTIFICATION ” moderated by Costantino Gabardi. Following, a showcooking by chef Daniel Canzian under the sign of seasonality, simplicity and elegance.
In the afternoon, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, there will be a Walk Around Tasting reserved for Italian and international operators in the sector and three masterclasses entitled “Style, personality and expression of drinkability of Barbera d'Asti docg”, “Affinamento e vine a chapter on the varietal expression of Barbera d'Asti Docg Superiore over time” and “Nizza Docg, Barbera vocation. Identity of an iconic wine”. From 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm the event will also be open to the public, upon registration.
During the tasting session, participants will be able to discover and appreciate different expressions of Barbera d'Asti and the Wines of Monferrato, thanks to the participation of over 30 local producers, each with a selection of wines that tell the story of the link between viticulture and territory, a tangible example of how tradition and modernity can coexist in a model that respects the environment and the community.
