IN THE HILLS OF THE PROSECCO SUPERIORE, HARVESTING IS IN ORDER TO DEFEAT THE VIRUS.

Covid does not stop solidarity. The 9th edition of the solidarity harvest this year dedicated only to professionals: sponsors and partners, volunteers, authorities and the press ended on Friday evening at the Le Manzane winery in San Pietro di Feletto (TV). Among the guests of honor Sammy Basso and the Paralympic athlete Giusy Versace . Some players of Benetton Rugby Treviso were also present . The councilor Giorgio Comuzzi intervened on behalf of the Municipality of San Pietro di Feletto. The proceeds will be donated to the Covid departments of Ulss 2 Marca Trevigiana . The Le Manzane winery has, in fact, decided to join the fundraising in support of public health initiatives to deal with the coronavirus emergency launched by the "Per Mio Son" Onlus Association.

"Solidarity does not stop - said Ernesto Balbinot, the owner of the Le Manzane winery - even if in a reduced form we have still decided to collect the solidarity grapes to give a strong signal that there is and will be a recovery". To comply with the rules on social distancing this year the traditional grape festival was not open to the public. «In these days - continued Balbinot - our boys will finish the harvesting of the Glera grapes in the vineyard adjacent to the cellar. The grapes will then be vinified separately and at Christmas between 9,000 and 9,500 bottles of solidarity prosecco will be available, a Conegliano Valdobbiadene Docg that can be purchased in wine shops, in specialized shops, in our "PaperCigno" Wine Shop and on order ».

"We have seen that this Covid has brought everyone to their knees - said Sammy Basso -. The only places where we were able to beat the virus effectively was where people helped each other and where everyone respected the rules. I would like to tell the deniers to trust science a little more. Covid exists, it hurts, there are people who have ended up in intensive care and have often left their lives with us ".

During the evening Giusy Versace, Paralympic athlete and president of the non-profit organization Disabili No Limits, presented the beneficiaries of the 2017 solidarity harvest, the athletes of the Vicenza wheelchair rugby team: H81 4 Cats . «Two wheelchairs purchased with the proceeds from fundraising 3 years ago - explained Angelo Fontana, the captain of the wheelchair rugby team - one for attack and one for defense. They are special wheelchairs: rugby is tackling and to prevent the athlete from being hit, the wheelchairs must be well reinforced ». The rugby star, Tiziano Pasquali of Benetton Treviso, then gave the 4 Cats a ball signed by the team.

After the harvest, the party continued with an aperitif based on Prosecco Superiore Docg accompanied by a delicious finger food with raw seafood offered by Alberto and Marco Stocco from Ca 'del Poggio , dinner prepared by chef Tiziano Poloni and tiramisu by Andrea Ciccolella , 2017 Tiramisù World Cup champion .

«We thank the Le Manzane company for this important gesture of solidarity - declared Francesco Benazzi, general manager Ulss 2 -. The proximity of the territory, in its various expressions, has been and continues to be extremely important for our operators. I must say, and we are grateful to everyone for this, that we really felt, during this challenging pandemic, the strong and constant support of all the various realities.

«This is a very special edition - declared Federico Caner, regional councilor for tourism - with an even more true and heroic flavor. In a year in which our entire daily life has been disrupted by the Covid emergency, the 9th edition of the solidarity harvest reminds us how nature, with the help of man, stops at nothing. A message of hope therefore, which could only be celebrated based on the two excellent products of our land, prosecco and tiramisu, the two most famous international "ambassadors" of Treviso ».

The partners and sponsors who shared the beneficial objectives of the 2020 solidarity harvest are : Antenna Tre, Arti Grafiche Conegliano, Banca Prealpi SanBiagio, Battistella Capsule, Dersut Caffe ', Foto Francesco Galifi, Generalvetri, Icas, Ideeuropee, Ristorante Relais Ca' del Poggio, Rotas, Savno Environmental Services North Eastern Veneto, S. Bernardo Tappi Spumante and S'Paul n 'Co. Design. The initiative is sponsored by the Veneto Region, the Province of Treviso and the Municipalities of San Pietro di Feletto, Conegliano and Valdobbiadene with the support of the Consorzio Tutela del Vino Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco, the association for social promotion XI di "Marca" and of the Club n ° 40 Frecce Tricolori Conegliano.
