Teroldego Rotaliano shows off

  • 14/05/2026

The Prince of Trentino wines returns to Mezzocorona as a protagonist.

There is a wine that is not produced anywhere else. Not for commercial reasons, not for marketing reasons: simply because it cannot. Teroldego Rotaliano is the product of a unique strip of land—the Piana Rotaliana , approximately 450 hectares squeezed between the Adige River and the Noce River, shaped by centuries of alluvial deposits and guarded by Dolomite rock faces that make it a unique viticultural microcosm. It is here, in Mezzocorona , that the community gathers every year to celebrate it. This year, the Teroldego Rotaliano Exhibition reaches its 35th edition , scheduled for May 22–24, 2026 , with Palazzo Martini as the beating heart of the event. Alongside the organizing body, the Pro Loco di Mezzocorona, the Consorzio Vini del Trentino confirms its institutional support for an event that is much more than a wine festival: it is a collective ritual, a meeting place for those who produce wine and those who discover it.

An event that is community, not a showcase

Founded in 1990, the Teroldego Rotaliano Exhibition has over time become a key event for anyone wishing to experience one of Italy's most distinctive native red wines— the first in Trentino to obtain DOC status in 1971. It's neither a fair nor a market: rather, it's an opportunity to engage directly with the wineries, large cooperatives, and small, independent winemakers who bring their labels and, with them, their stories to Palazzo Martini every year.

" The Teroldego Exhibition is first and foremost a moment of connection, a collective ritual ," explains Daniele Postal, President of the Mezzocorona Pro Loco. "It wasn't conceived as a simple exhibition event, but as a living expression of a community that identifies with its wine and shares it. Those who pour wine aren't just offering a tasting of a label, they're bringing with them a story of family, of work in the vineyard, of the seasons, and of their identity."

2026 Edition: A Multi-Layered Experience

This year's edition maintains its core spirit, but is enriched with new languages. The three-day program kicks off on Friday, May 22nd, with the official inauguration and a pairing dinner at Cantina Storica Rotari, where the chefs' cuisine meets Teroldego in a dialogue designed to enhance every nuance. Saturday, the most experimental day, opens to the local area with floriculture workshops related to the world of roses and Teroldego rosé. The afternoon then focuses on guided tastings at Palazzo Martini—including wine and food tours and a contemporary journey into the world of Trentino grappa—before concluding in an open-air atmosphere with Wine&Music a Palazzo , featuring over 30 wines for tasting accompanied by finger food, cocktails, and live music. Sunday is dedicated to authentic encounters: the Wine Market brings together Rotaliana Königsberg producers for tastings and direct sales, while the region is told through a bike tour of vineyards and villages , guided visits to Palazzo Martini, an interactive historical discovery trail, and creative workshops for children.

" The 2026 edition isn't changing direction, but it's expanding, " Postal specifies. "From a wine-focused event to a platform that connects wine, territory, and people. A more layered format, where those who come for one experience can stay to discover many more, and where Teroldego remains the common thread."

The Trentino Wine Consortium: promoting local excellence

The Consorzio Vini del Trentino 's support for the Teroldego Rotaliano Exhibition is part of a broader strategy to promote and protect Trentino's outstanding appellations . Teroldego Rotaliano—with its centuries-old history, its unbreakable bond with the Piana, and its ability to express a terroir in an authentic and unique way—represents a cornerstone of the identity of the entire Trentino winemaking system.

"Teroldego Rotaliano is one of the most powerful symbols that Trentino wine has to offer the world," says Albino Zenatti, President of the Consorzio Vini del Trentino. "The Mezzocorona Wine Show is more than just a local celebration: it's the place where this wine is presented in its most authentic form, through direct contact between producers and enthusiasts. As the Consortium, we deeply believe in the value of this event and are proud to support it."

Graziano Molon, General Manager of the Consorzio Vini del Trentino, agrees: "In an increasingly homogenized wine landscape, the rarity and uniqueness of Teroldego are an extraordinary resource . A 450-hectare denomination, anchored to a unique terroir with its soil composition, microclimate, and centuries-old cultivation tradition, is not a limitation: it is its strength. The Teroldego Rotaliano Exhibition helps communicate this uniqueness with the credibility that only a lived and shared territory can provide."

A wine of community, of territory, of character

There's a quote by Daniele Postal that sums up, perhaps better than any other statement, the spirit of this event and the wine that inspires it: "If you take the crown away from the 'Prince,' someone perhaps even more interesting remains: a native of his homeland, frank, profound, with a personality that needs no titles to be recognized."

This is the Teroldego you'll encounter in Mezzocorona from May 22nd to 24th: a wine that doesn't seek consensus, but builds relationships. A wine of community, of territory, of character.
