Sincette bets on the groppello, the native that embodies the Valtènesi

Sincette , the biodynamic company from Polpenazze del Garda (Brescia), owned by the Brunori family, is betting on the groppello and presents the restyling of the labels of the two versions of the vine, vinified in red and pink. Jean Blanchaert , a well-known gallery owner and art critic with a passion for ink drawing, took care of the new image of the company and the entire range of products in 2015. In the labels, subjected to a graphic review in 2020, the biodynamic method is represented through the representation of the organized disorder of the territory, microcosm, flora and fauna. The 2020 vintage of Groppello Valtènesi DOC and Chiaretto Valtènesi DOC , which arrive on the market today, are the result of the research and enhancement process of this native red grape variety grown on the Brescia side of Lake Garda by the biodynamic company Sincette practically since its inception. A path started in 1994, with the experimentation on existing groppello vineyards, which has seen the involvement since 1997 of Jacques Mell , father of French biodynamics, and which has led over time to a change of direction in the company vision. Today what characterizes Sincette is the respect for natural conditions and the landscape and the preference for quality over quantity . Among the choices made in the vineyard, for example, we went from bow pruning, whose goal was only the production of a large quantity of grapes, to the adoption of guyot pruning, in order to produce fewer but higher bunches. qualitative level. "In 1994, working in the vineyard with the old winemakers of the town who lent their help to Sincette - recalls Andrea Salvetti , Sincette production and marketing coordinator - I often heard this phrase repeated: ' Whoever loses the seed of the the brain '. We have interpreted this saying as a dutiful invitation to protect this vine, which has made Valtènesi its land of choice, in order not to lose its tradition ”. Groppello is the native vine of Valtènesi and here it finds its maximum diffusion and expression. It owes its name to the shape of the cluster, very compact, so much so that it looks like a knot, “lump” in dialect. It can be vinified in red or rosé, with the so-called Molmenti Method, which owes its name to the homonymous senator, the first to introduce the culture and production of rosé wines in the territory. From it Sincette obtains two wines, pure expression of the nature of this vine: Groppello Valtènesi DOC , 100% native grape, and Chiaretto Valtènesi DOC , from groppello, marzemino and barbera.
