Following the success of the first edition, Passi di Gusto , the project of the Fondazione Cammino Minerario di Santa Barbara, is back for 2026. It transforms the walk into an experience capable of combining hiking, culture, food and wine, and meetings with producers and local communities.
The second edition of the event will take place on the weekends of October 10th and 11th and October 31st and November 1st , with four days to discover South-Western Sardinia through walking routes, identity products, wines, traditions and symbolic places of the Santa Barbara Mining Trail.
" The goal of Passi di Gusto is to enhance the tangible and intangible heritage traversed by the Santa Barbara Mining Trail ," emphasizes Mauro Usai , president of the CMSB Foundation, " by creating a direct connection between those who walk the trails and the communities who inhabit and protect these territories every day. Each stop has its own history, landscape, traditions, and products that make it unique. Connecting them, through walking and cuisine, creates opportunities for encounters and thus allows those who travel these itineraries to get to know the territory in a deeper and more authentic way. This is precisely the strength of the Trail: uniting different places, enhancing their identities, and creating new opportunities for the communities who live there ."
The program - It begins on Saturday, October 10th in Buggerru , with a circular route that will also pass through the Galleria Henry. The day will focus on the sea, fishing, and wine, with chef Francesco Stara and pastry chef Gabriele Giambastiani. Sunday, October 11th will be the turn of Villacidro , starting from the racecourse and following a winding route that will lead participants to discover the area. Chef Raffaele Altamura, from the Istituto Alberghiero, will explain traditional products through cuisine, along with the protagonists of the experiences dedicated to oil, honey, and bread. The day will have the Agricultural Institute as its focal point. The third event, on Saturday, October 31st, will unite two territories and two production souls of the Basso Sulcis: starting from Nuxis and arriving at the Cantina Santadi , along a route dedicated primarily to the culture of wine and oil. In the kitchen will be chef Ivano Congiu, supported by pastry chef Barbara Congiu. The grand finale will take place on Sunday, November 1st in Carloforte , at Tonnare Piam , with an event that, starting from the port, intertwines the sea and the island's traditions with the culture of wine and coral. Chefs Andrea Rosso and Cristiano Rosso will be the protagonists of the cuisine.
Best wishes to the Carignano Trails - The new edition of Passi di Gusto also brings a significant anniversary: in October 2026, the Carignano Trails will "turn" one . The food and wine walking itinerary, born within the Santa Barbara Mining Trail, was officially presented in September 2025 as a route dedicated to the relationship between the Sulcis landscape, mining culture, and Carignano del Sulcis DOC wine. In twelve stages , the Carignano Trails now cross over 200 kilometers of vineyards, the sea, villages, archaeological sites, and evidence of mining activity, offering the opportunity to meet producers, visit wineries, and experience firsthand one of the most distinctive expressions of Sardinian winemaking. This year has marked significant growth for the project, which has grown from the initial 60 kilometers to over 200 kilometers today, and has been accompanied by intense promotional activity involving the entire community, businesses, and citizens. The Carignano Trails—a key component of the Sulcis region's redevelopment as an authentic tourist destination and now synonymous with active tourism—have been the focus of two press tours for Italian and international food and wine press (a third press tour will take place in late October 2026) and have begun to gain increasing visibility in the wine and slow tourism landscape. The project has also been presented at major wine events, including Vinitaly and the Merano Wine Festival , where it debuted in 2025 with a masterclass dedicated to Carignano del Sulcis.
It is precisely this evolution that makes the second edition of Passi di Gusto particularly significant: some of its routes will intersect with the Sentieri del Carignano, connecting two projects that have a common denominator: describing the region through the direct experience of walking and its food and wine heritage . Passi di Gusto thus becomes a new opportunity to discover Sulcis at a slow pace: not a simple hike, but a journey through the landscape, mining history, vineyards, and flavors of an authentic Sardinia, where every step can become an encounter and every product a story of the region.

Furthermore, between October 9th and 12th, the CMSB Foundation is participating in Weekend in Cammino, a slow tourism initiative promoted by the Noi Camminiamo in Sardegna – We Walk in Sardinia project, supported by the Department of Tourism of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and implemented by the Northern Sardinia Chamber of Commerce through Promocamera. The itinerary, which winds through the CMSB territories, takes place over three days and two nights, starting from Cala Domestica and arriving in Piscinas, passing through iconic locations such as Buggerru, the Gulf of Lion, Portixeddu, and the large dune system of Scivu-Piscinas.
