Red Canzian , historical member of the musical group Pooh, is the winner of the Basilica Palladiana 2020 Award , the recognition promoted by the Pro Loco of Sandrigo which since 1962 honors people, organizations and institutions of the Veneto from the world of art, sport and culture. The award will be delivered by Antonio Chemello , President of the Pro Loco, on Thursday 10 September 2020 at Villa Sex Schiavo in Sandrigo (Vicenza), during the charity dinner organized to raise funds for the Città della Speranza Foundation and for the project dedicated to neuroblastoma research. . Composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer, Red Canzian, originally from Quinto di Treviso, started playing at a very young age and recorded his first album at 19. In 1973 he joined Pooh, a historic band that wrote pages of Italian music, and held over three thousand concerts all over the world, while in 1986 he was awarded the honor of Cavaliere della Repubblica by President Cossiga. Canzian is also a painter and writer: he has published books related to nature, an autobiography and a volume, co-written with his daughter Chiara, on ethics and vegan cuisine of which he is a strong supporter. Today he is completing a rock opera on Venice of the '700 that he will stage in 2021. "We are very pleased that the Pro Loco Sandrigo has chosen to reward a friend of Città della Speranza like Red Canzian, who for our reality has his music is available free of charge on several occasions - says Stefania Fochesato , Past President and Fundraiser of the Città della Speranza Foundation - The Pro Loco Sandrigo and the Restaurateurs Group are an integral part of ambitious projects: last October they collaborated in the realization of the celebratory party of our 25 years, while this year they chose to donate the entire proceeds of the dinner on 10 September to pediatric research to support the Neuroblastoma Project - Tutti in campo con Giacomo . Knowing that, despite the current difficulties in the sector, restaurateurs are close to all the children put to the test by the disease, is a gesture of great solidarity and foresight. " Neuroblastoma, which is the third most common malignant neoplasm in children, has little known causes and a variable course. The research project, coordinated by Prof. Alessandra Biffi , Director of the Clinic of Pediatric Oncohematology of Padua and Coordinator of the research area in "Oncohematology, stem cell transplantation and genetic therapy" of the Pediatric Research Institute Città della Speranza, aims to characterize neuroblastoma at the cellular and molecular level, in order to identify new targeted therapies. The event on Thursday 10 September is by invitation only. For information contact Pro Sandrigo on 0444 658148.
