Rebel Queen - Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Fest

Yesterday, Sunday 4 June, REGINA RIBELLE – VERNACCIA DI SAN GIMIGNANO WINE FEST closed, the event that the Consorzio del vino Vernaccia di San Gimignano strongly desired and conceived, dedicating it to the vine that is the symbol of an entire production and winemaking area.

The two days enlivened the historic center of San Gimignano, in the presence of a large and interested public, who had the opportunity to taste a great white wine of Tuscany - the White Queen in a land of red wines - in all its nuances , deepening the knowledge of the territory through the masterclasses at the Rocca di Montestaffoli and to meet, in a walk-around tasting, the producers - Paladins of Vernaccia di San Gimignano - present with their stations in the city squares.

These are the numbers of the first edition. The member producers of the Consortium who joined the wine fest presented over 100 labels of Vernaccia di San Gimignano for the occasion. Sold out for the opening conference "L'Amor che de la vite cola", in the presence of the city and regional authorities, the national sector press, with highly prestigious speakers, who took turns on the topics of sustainability and wine-health, while the gala dinner - organized by the starred chef Vito Mollica, who returned from the Giordano royal wedding just for the occasion - saw the presence of 130 institutional guests of the Consortium, gathered for the occasion in the evocative cloister of Sant 'Augustine; finally, the aperitif and after dinner at the Rocca di Montestaffoli attracted the younger public, for a moment of light and convivial tasting. There were over two thousand tastings in the squares, an extremely satisfactory number for an event born this year, which the president of the Consortium, Irina Strozzi , comments as follows: “We are very satisfied that this first edition has received such a successful and strong interest in our denomination. This is wine: it is culture, it is art in all its forms, it is knowledge, it is sharing and community. But also respect and politeness, which we found in the many people gathered in San Gimignano last weekend. And to all those who have not been able to be with us, I say: come and visit us in San Gimignano throughout the year, to get to know our White Queen. Unique, noble, rebellious”.
