New edition of Morellino del Cuore: the wines selected by a tasting panel of respected Italian sommeliers have been revealed.

Morellino del Cuore, a project born from the collaboration between the Consorzio Tutela Morellino di Scansano DOCG and journalists Roberta Perna and Antonio Stelli, has reached its fourth edition. The aim is to promote one of Tuscany's most representative denominations through an annual selection of labels that win over the tasting commission and which, year after year, become the tasters' "Morellino del Cuore".

As per tradition, Morellino del Cuore rotates the composition of its tasting panel each year, entrusting the first selection of wines to specialized journalists and, the next, to sommeliers from top-class restaurants.

For the 2026 edition, the commission was made up of six authoritative sommeliers from some of the most prestigious Italian starred restaurants , called upon to rigorously blind taste the wines and select the 10 Morellino del Cuore 2026, divided into the four categories: Annata, Superiore, Riserva and Vecchia Annata.

The commission was composed of Andrea De Luca of Enoteca Pinchiorri (three Michelin stars) , Luca Bracali of Bracali (one Michelin star) , Federico Latta of Taverna Estia (two Michelin stars) , Enrico Moschella of George Restaurant (two Michelin stars) , Rudy Travagli of Enoteca La Torre (two Michelin stars) and Andrea Puliga of Ristorante IRIS (one Michelin star).

The ten 2026 Morellino del Cuore wines will be officially presented to the press on July 10th at the prestigious Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence. The event will feature a tasting of the selected wines and will provide an important opportunity to learn more about the appellation, through the stories of the producers, the Consortium, and the project's creators.

Over the years, Morellino del Cuore has become one of the most significant projects promoted by the Consortium for the promotion of the appellation. Born from the collaboration with journalists Roberta Perna and Antonio Stelli, it aims to offer an annual opportunity for discussion, never competitive, within the appellation, allowing us to grasp its evolution through the work of the wineries and their wines . This year too, the tasting panel, composed of respected Italian restaurant professionals, found a high level of quality across the board: an achievement that makes us particularly proud.

This edition also takes on a special significance because, thanks to the recent modification to the production regulations, it was possible to include the Morellino Superiore category for the first time. This important development further enriches the project and demonstrates the growth and continuous evolution of our appellation.

Morellino di Scansano DOCG

Morellino di Scansano DOCG is one of the key winemaking expressions of the Maremma Toscana region. Made primarily from Sangiovese grapes, it expresses a unique terroir thanks to its climate, proximity to the sea, and diverse soils, elements that give the wines elegance, freshness, and a distinct gastronomic vocation. Alongside the pleasantness of its younger versions, Morellino di Scansano also demonstrates a surprising ability to evolve over time, maintaining balance, complexity, and identity. The Consorzio Tutela Morellino di Scansano DOCG currently brings together over 200 producers committed to protecting, promoting, and enhancing the designation.
