Following the success of the first autumn edition, the Umbria Wine Tourism Movement is relaunching the Wine Trekking project with a spring calendar that, from April to June 2026 , invites you to experience the region in an immersive and engaging way. This format combines the pleasure of walking with the discovery of wine, transforming a winery visit into a slow experience deeply rooted in the landscape.
While autumn was framed by the warm colors of the grape harvest, spring offers a completely different landscape: lush vineyards, green hills, wildflowers, and views opening onto little-known villages, castles, and valleys. This is the backdrop for the new series of events, designed for those who wish to explore Umbria through its natural rhythms, walking among vineyards, olive groves, and trails.
“ With Wine Trekking we want to offer a different way of experiencing wine and the territory, focusing on time, the landscape and direct encounters with the producers ; - comments Giovanni Dubini , president of MTV Umbria - Spring is the ideal time for this type of experience: nature awakens, the vineyards change face and trekking becomes a privileged tool for revealing the identity of our places” .
We begin on April 25th in Bevagna with the Mevante Farm , in the heart of the Montefalco appellation, for an afternoon trek through vineyards and countryside, returning to the winery for a wine tasting and light dinner. The following day, April 26th, and then again on May 17th and June 7th, the experience moves to the outskirts of Perugia, in the locality of La Bruna, with the Church of Carmine , for a journey through the Monte Tezio valley and the village of Castiglion Ugolino, amidst panoramic views and history, with a final visit to the winery and a tasting of the company's wines and organic products.
The calendar kicks into high gear in early May. On May 2nd and 16th, and again on June 6th, the Fongoli winery in Montefalco offers a circular hike along country roads and more natural stretches, reaching Gaglioli Castle overlooking the Attone River Valley. This scenic setting includes a tour of the ancient cooperage and a tasting of biodynamic wines. On May 3rd and June 13th, again in Montefalco, Perticaia leads guests through vineyards and olive groves, including a tour and final tasting.
On May 3, 17, and 23, and June 7, in Assisi, the Meazzi Winery is organizing circular treks through the woods along the Mora trails, combining the excursion with a lunch and tasting of wines from the company's production.
May 9th is one of the program's key events: in Perugia, near Colle Umberto, the Carini Farm will lead a tour of vineyards, olive groves, and medieval villages, followed by a tasting of its own traditional products, including wines. In Orvieto, near Rocca Ripesena, Palazzone will offer a stroll through the historic countryside, followed by a visit to a winery and lunch. In Montefalco, on June 9th, 13th, and 14th, the Scacciadiavoli winery will accompany participants through the olive groves and villages of the area, concluding with a tasting.
Also on May 9th and May 16th, in Bettona, Vetunna organizes treks through the vineyards, with convivial moments in the open air and a picnic with wine tasting. On May 10th, the calendar continues with other stops: in Perugia, the Goretti winery offers an experience among the vineyards and hilly landscape, complete with a tasting, while in Collazzone, the Baldassarri winery offers a tour through the countryside and rural views of the area, complete with lunch.
May 16th is a particularly busy day: in Sant'Enea, just outside Perugia, the Chiorri winery offers a walk through the vineyards and villages with a panoramic aperitif; in Marsciano, Cantina La Spina combines the trek with a visit to the castle and a tasting; while Vetunna replicates the experience among the vineyards.
On May 17th, we return to Bevagna with La Fonte Azienda Agricola , for a tour of the surrounding countryside, followed by a tasting in the winery. The calendar continues through June with further events, strengthening a widespread offering that encompasses some of Umbria's most iconic wine regions, from Montefalco to Orvieto, and even the Perugia and Assisi regions.
The days will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a welcome at the winery and continue at 9 a.m. with the start of the trek (depending on the winery you choose). This event is also open to families, with children aged ten and up welcome.
Umbria Wine Trekking is made possible thanks to the support of Screen Italia Srl and the BCC di Spello e del Velino. Hiking boots are required, and poles are recommended. For information and reservations: umbria@movimentoturismovino.it – 347.7530924 (Whatsapp).
