Modena, queen of champagne. Champagne Experience continues to grow

More companies, more wines, more visitors. Once again, a positive balance was achieved by the sixth edition of the Champagne Experience which took place in Modena on 15 and 16 October. Sold out master class and gala dinner with the producers at Palazzo Ducale prepared by chef Massimo Bottura.

The passion for bubbles from beyond the Alps does not stop and Champagne Experience confirms itself as a point of reference at European level for all operators in the sector and wine lovers who wish to know the innovations that animate the production of the most famous wine in the world. The Champagne Experience , an event now in its sixth edition and organized by Società Excellence , which brings together twenty-one of the major Italian importers and distributors of excellent wines and spirits, closed with a positive outcome once again.

The number of visitors registered at the entrance to the ModenaFiere pavilions during the two days of the event once again exceeded 6,000, confirming last year's numbers. Professional visitors are increasing, reaching 78% of the total, confirming the vocation and mission of Champagne Experience, an event which is mainly aimed at operators in the Horeca world and specialized retail. The visitors, who came as usual from all over Italy, deepened their knowledge of Champagne thanks to the presence of 176 companies, including large Maisons and small vignerons, who offered more than 900 wines for tasting. “The objective was, as usual, to put the many champagne lovers present in Italy in the best conditions to be able to deepen their knowledge of this magnificent wine” comments Luca Cuzziol, President of Società Excellence. “Italy is one of the reference markets worldwide for the consumption of Champagne, the most important for the so-called cuvée de prestige. Today we can say that our country, and Modena in particular, also hosts the most important event in Europe in terms of quantity and quality of exhibiting companies belonging to the world of Champagne". A consideration, the latter, now also recognized by the many producers who increasingly increase their presence year after year - this year there were 35 more companies compared to the 2022 edition - and by the many national and foreign observers . Among these also Michel Bettane , one of the most influential critics in France, present in Modena for the first time as host of one of the scheduled master classes. “I was initially surprised and then particularly enthusiastic during my stay at this edition of the Champagne Experience. I have always attended events where champagne is one of the protagonists, but this was certainly the most important event dedicated to French bubbles that I have ever attended." The participation of French producers in the exclusive gala dinner prepared by the three Michelin star chef Massimo Bottura , which took place at the Palazzo Ducale in Modena, home of the Military Academy, was also particularly numerous. This year the master class program was particularly rich in events, which sold out days before the event. There were many thematic insights, such as the one conducted by Geoffrey Orbán - "The man who tastes the earth" - who proposed an intense journey through the terroirs of Champagne, with surprising demonstrations based on tactile and olfactory analyses.
