On the occasion of Milan Civil Week —the celebration and event for active citizenship and solidarity promoted by Corriere della Sera-Buone Notizie, the Municipality of Milan, and the Third Sector Forum from May 7th to 10th— Piazza dei Mestieri brings an experience that combines mixology, craftsmanship, and training to the heart of the city: on Friday, May 8th and Saturday, May 9th, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm , at Palazzo Giureconsulti (Sala Donzelli), the Piazza is offering an experiential workshop open to the public and by reservation, where you can learn how to create the perfect aperitif mix.
Joined by students from the dining room and bar course at the Milan location in Piazza dei Mestieri, and guided by tutors Riccardo Ficara, Alessia Urraci, and Elena Coraini, along with instructors Federico Pascoli and Teresa Calogera, participants will learn preparation techniques, proper mixing of ingredients, and cocktail presentation. This immersive experience will see each participant try their hand at making two international classics: the Daiquiri and the Americano.
Under the Palazzo's portico, you can also visit the Piazza dei Mestieri market , where you can discover a selection of products made in its laboratories. Among these, the exclusive wine born from the collaboration with the Lusenti winery: three labels—Il Miramare, Il Bianco, and Il Rosso—the result of a three-year program involving Piazza dei Mestieri students throughout the entire production process, from harvest to the creation of the bottles' visual identity.
In addition to wine, there will be Mother's Day cookies and desserts available, showcasing the creativity of the catering courses, and original cocktail-themed prints created by students in the IT and graphics courses. These products can be purchased with a donation to support the educational activities.
" Participation in Milano Civil Week confirms our commitment to an educational model in which know-how translates into inclusion and personal and professional growth ," says Guido Mangiaracina , coordinator of training activities at Piazza dei Mestieri. " If with our workshops we offer a fun and educational experience in the beverage industry, with our market we give people the opportunity to experience firsthand what happens every day in our spaces: behind every creation there is not only education, but a concrete experience that prepares our young adolescents for the workforce ."
Piazza dei Mestieri was founded in Turin in 2004 to combat school dropout and promote the social and employment inclusion of vulnerable young people. The project, promoted by the Piazza dei Mestieri Foundation, is a training and community center that offers educational and professional opportunities to over 10,000 young people each year, at its locations in Turin, Catania, and Milan. Through workshops dedicated to catering, baking, graphics, aesthetics, and other trades, young people build their professional and social futures. Thanks to a network of public and private partners, the Foundation integrates training and employment, becoming a point of reference in the welfare system. In 2025, founders Dario Odifreddi and Cristiana Poggio were awarded the title of Officers of Merit by President Sergio Mattarella for the project's social and cultural impact.
