Masterclasses, tastings and pairings: the Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium at the Douja d'Or 2023

Masterclasses, local products, traditional dishes and exclusive pairings, and of course tastings: once again this year the Douja d'Or is proposed as an unmissable appointment and the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato is the protagonist with the celebration of wine excellence of the territory.

From Friday 8 to Sunday 17 September, in fact, visitors will be able to actively participate in all the appointments included in the calendar of the traditional September in Asti organized by the Consortium, which includes 400 member companies and 13 protected denominations.

31 August 2023, Costigliole D'Asti - Masterclass, local products, traditional dishes and exclusive pairings, and of course tastings: once again this year the Douja d'Or is proposed as an unmissable appointment and the Barbera d'Asti and Monferrato Wines Consortium is the protagonist with the celebration of the wine excellences of the area. From Friday 8 to Sunday 17 September, in fact, visitors will be able to actively participate in all the appointments included in the calendar of the traditional September in Asti organized by the Consortium, which includes 400 member companies and 13 protected denominations. “The Douja d'Or is an important opportunity for us to illustrate the quality of our labels to the consumer - explains Vitaliano Maccario, President of the Consorzio Barbera d'Asti e Vini del Monferrato - guiding the public in first person to discover the territory and its excellence. During the event there will be moments where the combinations between our wines and dishes specially designed for the occasion will be at the center of attention, precisely to represent the great versatility of the Monferrato labels and their combinability both with dishes from the prestigious local gastronomy and more contemporary dishes. Our goal is to involve a transversal audience, from wine lovers to the simply curious, accompanying them to taste some of the most significant interpretations of Monferrato and telling them the history and unique characteristics contained in each glass" .

In fact, there are over 150 Consortium labels present every day at the tasting stands inside Palazzo Alfieri : in the first courtyard there will be two tasting stands, one entirely dedicated to Monferrato red wines, the other to white wines, sweets and sparkling wines. In the second courtyard, there will be food trucks, with pairing proposals and the historic Ristorantino, curated by the AFP Colline Astigiane hotel school, which will offer traditional Piedmontese dishes. There are also 4 Masterclasses planned, one per day from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th, starting from 7pm, during which the oenological pearls of Monferrato will be explored in greater depth. During the four events, participants will be able to discover the origin, the organoleptic characteristics and the best combinations between local products and some of the labels being tasted. Finally, the starred chef Marcello Trentini, through combinations of ingredients and flavours, will present new culinary creations designed to best highlight the excellence of the consortium denominations.
