"Magical Autumnal Interweavings" at Strassoldo di Sopra Castle - October 9, 10, and 11, 2026

From 9 to 11 October 2026, Strassoldo di Sopra Castle , in the province of Udine, will host the 55th edition of Magici Intrecci , the event that for twenty-eight years has brought together high craftsmanship, green culture and small-scale agricultural production in the heart of one of the most evocative private castle complexes in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Nearly 120 select master craftsmen, top-notch nursery gardeners, and small producers from across Italy will present new collections, unique plants, and quality products along a circular route through the palace's furnished halls, the Armed Forces Garden, the centuries-old park, the rice paddy, the orchard, and the stationery shop. The entire area will be decorated with an autumnal theme , featuring the refined and ever-changing creations that are one of the event's highlights. The event will also be the perfect opportunity to find original Christmas gifts.

In October, the thousand-year-old residence takes on a new lease of life: the light glides over the ancient stones, the leaves are tinged with copper, and the spring waters reflect turquoise hues. The gardens, bright and open in spring, gather together in a more intimate and profound beauty, to be discovered at a leisurely pace.

Magici Intrecci is more than just a trade fair, but the living story of a heritage continuously preserved by the same family that built the castle over a thousand years ago. Each edition makes a tangible contribution to the maintenance, safety, and preservation of the historic complex, which has been reborn in recent decades through long and painstaking restoration work.

An experience to be enjoyed without haste

Visiting Strassoldo in autumn means enjoying the luxury of slowing down: listening to the rustling of leaves, walking along paths beside spring waters, meeting artisans and nursery gardeners who share their work, discovering creations born from expertise, research, and attention to detail.

Each exhibitor is chosen for its quality, originality, and coherence with the spirit of the place. Clothing and accessories, jewelry, furnishings, fabrics, ceramics, art objects, rare plants, natural products, and food specialties blend discreetly into the castle's historic spaces and gardens, creating a harmonious dialogue between memory, nature, and contemporary creativity. For those seeking a gourmet break, three select refreshment points will be located along the route, offering authentic autumnal delicacies to savor amidst charming views and a relaxed atmosphere.

A series of collateral events will enliven the event. Among them:

• Every day, in the Brolo: Biodiversity on Display. An exhibition of ornamental chickens curated by the Friulian Poultry Farmers' Association, dedicated to protecting biodiversity and promoting rare and select breeds.
• Every day at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. , and 4:00 p.m.: Walks in the Castello di Sotto Park , with guided tours led by Barbara Strassoldo, to discover the village's other green heart. Ticket: €6. Meet at the Castello di Sotto gate, recognizable by the statues.
• Every day at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm: Discover the village with guided tours of the castle grounds, Villa Vitas, and the Mulino del Bosco, including admission to the 14th-century church of Santa Maria in Vineis. This event is open to visitors with a festival ticket. Meet at the old lime tree between the church and the chancellery.
• Saturday and Sunday: Pastimes of Yesterday. Ancient wooden games and educational activities for children and dreamers aged 3 to 99, in the area adjacent to the park's large terrace.
• Saturday, 11:00 a.m.: Botanical Conversation . Andrea Davanzo of Il Rosificio di Mortegliano will discuss "Choosing, Pruning, and Caring for Old and Botanical Roses."
• Saturday, 3:00 PM: Botanical Talk. Lidia and Mauro of the Zanelli Nursery will discuss "The Autumn Garden: Interesting Textures and Colors for Leaves and Flowers" at their space in the Brolo.
