The Canale (CN) winery, founded in 1878, celebrates the first harvest with the VIVA Sustainability certification, obtained by the Ministry of the Environment and Protection of the Territory and the Sea

The entire cellar system and Oudeis, the first Alta Langa DOCG ever, enter the register and according to the Classic Method in Italy to obtain certification.

Enrico Serafino celebrates a VIVA harvest. The harvest of the grapes dedicated to Alta Langa began on 23 August with the first of the 56 parcels. It will be a special harvest, with excellent conditions for quality although with quantities below average. A harvest in the name of environmental, economic and social sustainability, thanks to the recognition of OUDEIS as the first ever VIVA Alta Langa certified and the second Classic Method in Italy. A goal that is not limited to product certification but extends to the certification of the entire cellar system. Enrico Serafino is therefore confirmed as one of the virtuous companies towards the environment and territory thanks to the ministerial certification of sustainability of the environmental, social and economic impacts linked to the company's activities as a whole.

«Our factory is the environment - says Nico Conta , President of Enrico Serafino - and therefore our commitment to sustainable production becomes an essential choice. We pursue sustainability in its broadest sense, as a responsibility made up of environmental protection, social progress and economic development , which permeates every activity, from the vineyard, to distribution, to communication, to the well-being of employees and the community. VIVA's values are ours, and we are proud to be able to continue to improve together with them, guaranteeing sustainable excellence . "

Launched in 2011 by the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of the Territory and the Sea, with the collaboration of the Research Center for Sustainable Agriculture of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, the VIVA program has developed a universally recognized methodology for evaluation of the sustainability performance of wineries and their products through the analysis of 4 indicators: Air, Water, Territory and Vineyard .

The analyzes carried out for Enrico Serafino highlighted the company's excellent results in sustainable practices: the vineyards were evaluated as "Class A" , while for the Water indicator the low use of H20 per bottle - only 10 liters , was highlighted. they also include the water necessary to degrade all the pollutants that the activity produces. The Territory indicator, which assesses the impact of the actions undertaken on the territory and the community, certified the virtuosity of Enrico Serafino's relations with the local community, with suppliers and employees .

« We are particularly happy that the certification coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Alta Langa appellation and the 30th anniversary of the planting of the first experimental vineyards of the project, which we still control for 25% of the surfaces. Even if premature, we can anticipate that the grapes are healthy and with a yield per hectare below average. The ripening parameters are perfect and, surprisingly, they combine with well-sustained acidity. "

Founded in 1878 by the entrepreneur Enrico Serafino in Canale d'Alba , a town in the heart of the wine-growing area on the left bank of the Tanaro, Enrico Serafino is the oldest winery in the area and was one of the first Piedmontese houses to produce, at inside its own nineteenth-century underground galleries , Barolo , Barbaresco and precious cuvées of the Classic Method such as Asti Champagne and Regina Brut Champagne.

Every single bottle is produced with the solid experience of over 140 harvests carried out within the historic original headquarters, following strict rules and combining the grapes of the best vineyards with the artisan experience handed down from generation to generation.

All Enrico Serafino wines are full expression of the Piedmontese Attitude : time, respect, complexity and craftsmanship.
