The final awards ceremony of the Bere il territorio literary competition, promoted by Go Wine and now in its twenty-third edition, will take place on Saturday 28 September at 5:30 pm at the Grinzane Cavour Castle, Sala delle Maschere.
A cultural initiative that has always accompanied the visit of the association founded in Alba in 2001, for a project aimed at promoting wine culture and wine tourism in Italy. For the second time the final event is celebrated in the prestigious location of the Grinzane Cavour Castle.
Bere il territorio has always been a reference in this sense, to communicate a specific vision of wine, to unite attentive and aware winemakers and consumers, to promote a positive image of quality wine and the important social and cultural values it carries.
Over the course of many editions, the Competition has evolved, with new initiatives and new relationships, while maintaining certain key points.
Starting from the title, born as a sort of provocation, and which has always remained current:
“Drinking the territory” to attribute an added value to each quality wine and appreciate, through the glass, not only the product itself, but also the culture and the environment that it contains.
For some years the initiative has been strengthened, always inspired by the idea that has inspired the Go Wine association since its foundation: that is, to look at a qualified consumer figure who not only loves to know and taste wines, but feels the desire to become a traveler to discover the places where each wine is affirmed and where men and women of wine work.
The underlying spirit that animates the cultural initiative remains unchanged: history, traditions, landscape and cultural events are the various factors that distinguish wine from any other drink and that are enhanced when travelling through a wine territory.
The themes of research and sustainability are increasingly important alongside the general section of the Competition and concern some awards that will be given next Saturday at the Grinzane Cavour Castle.
Antonio Ricci , popular television author and writer, will be awarded the recognition of “il Maestro” of Bere il territorio.
The “Maestro” award was established starting from the third edition and aims to reward important figures of Italian culture, who can be a point of reference for the younger ones or witnesses of a particular relationship with the identity of places and the material civilization that characterizes them.

There are three awards reserved for the theme of sustainability, indicated in art. 8 of the Competition Announcement. An Award established for the third consecutive year in the name of the renewal of the Competition's planning, with roots linked to the territory of the Province of Cuneo and beyond, according to some guidelines indicated by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo.
The winners are “ L'Accademia della Vigna” , an innovative project rooted in the territory of Alba, Langhe and Roero and promoted by the Social Enterprise WeCo, which interprets a very current theme linked to work in the vineyards, for the training of people and against the exploitation of work.
