“ Every year for us the grape harvest is an important moment, not only because after months we see the fruit of so much work but also because for some time we have had a “team” that works in the vineyard made up of university students from the municipalities near us ”. With these words, Innocente Nardi , who since 1997 together with his sister Adamaria has led the Agricola La Farra company, talks about his 2024 grape harvest. “ It brings back a bit of the grape harvest of the old days, when the kids went to harvest because it was part of the culture of the area. Twenty years ago it was normal to see students busy harvesting in September before the start of classes ” continues Innocente Nardi . “ Thinking that all this is possible thanks to word of mouth fills us with pride ” – says Adamaria Nardi – “ For us, the grape harvest has always been a cultural issue and this year we have chosen to have lunch all together: the convivial moment becomes an opportunity for discussion, trying to get to know the students a little better and to be contaminated by their enthusiasm ”. “ We remember that the grape harvest is the most delicate moment of the year for us, we can say with satisfaction that all the elements of this harvest foretell a truly promising balance ”. – continues Innocente Nardi . Thanks to a seasonal trend that has alternated a cool spring with a slightly warmer summer than the average of recent years, there has been excellent development of the leaf system and well-formed bunches, essential for the production of wines intended for sparkling wine. " The first part of the year, with its mild climate, avoided water stagnation, allowing the vines to grow in a balanced and healthy way ", says Innocente Nardi . " The arrival of the heat wave in the summer months accelerated the accumulation of sugars, essential to achieve the ideal ripening of the grapes ." Certainly in this scenario the viticultural techniques adopted played a crucial role: " We managed the pruning in a non-drastic way, leaving 3-4 leaves intact above the bunch to ensure the necessary shade and preserve the photosynthesis capacity, thus maintaining the vital activity of the vines ", explains Innocente. This strategy made it possible to respond effectively to climate change, contributing to the healthiness of the grapes. With the 2024 harvest, La Farra therefore not only confirms its commitment to producing superior quality wines, but also reaffirms the educational and cultural value of work in the vineyard as it was once considered , celebrating the harvest as a fundamental moment of training, teamwork and tradition.
