FROM THIS YEAR ON THE PODIUM THE FIRST 3 WINES WITH THE HIGHEST SCORE AND THE INDIVIDUAL "REGIONAL WINNERS"

From 19 to 22 May 2023, in the splendid setting of the wine-growing villages of Egna and Montagna in South Tyrol, the best Pinot Noirs of Italy will be staged. Protagonist: the 2020 vintage. Great expectations for the proclamation of the TOP3 of the National Pinot Noir Competition and for the ranking of the individual regional winners.

The one that will be staged this year on the occasion of the South Tyrolean Pinot Noir Days will be a renewed edition, organized from 19 to 22 May 2023 in the evocative and iconic wine-growing villages of Egna and Montagna in South Tyrol. An edition that intends to strongly enhance and celebrate the national character that animates the Competition and that it will be possible to breathe during the busy calendar of tastings scheduled for the four days. „ This year – explains Ines Giovanett, President of the Organizing Committee of the Pinot Noir Daysthe Competition presents very interesting new features. In order to make this appointment a real representative window of the national production of this vine and to enhance as much as possible the different traditions and production styles of Pinot Noir in Italy, not only the first 3 wines with the highest score will be awarded but also the individual regional winners have been decreed ". During the four days, the national production of this precious vine will in fact be compared: over 100 wine producers involved from 11 wine areas , including Trentino, Alto Adige, Valle d'Aosta, Piedmont , Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, Abruzzo, Umbria and Marche.The protagonists for this edition are the Pinot Noirs of the 2020 vintage.The 25th edition will be inaugurated on Friday 19 May at the Castle of Enna in Montagna with the award ceremony of the National Pinot Noir Competition which for the first time will sanction the top 3 best Pinot Noirs of the 2020 vintage as well as the first Pinot Noirs of the respective participating regions starting from the selection to be held in mid-April and made for the first time, as well as by oenologists and journalists , also by sommeliers from all over Italy. Judgments will be processed by the Laimburg Experimentation Center under the supervision of Ulrich Pedri, director of the winemaking section. “ Like last year – explains Marc Pfitscher , Vice-President of the Organizing Committee of the Pinot Noir Days in charge of the Competitionthe competition will take place as an individual tasting.
