Grignolino & Co. Preview - Castello di Casale Monferrato, Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th and Monday 20th May 2024

We present the second edition of the event born from the initiative of the Consortium for the protection of Colline del Monferrato Casalese wines: “Anteprima Grignolino & Co.”, the tribute to the most identifying native wine of Monferrato Casalese, rich in history, virtues and potential which, from next May 18th to 20th, it will return to reveal itself in its different nuances and peculiarities, within the walls of the ancient Palaiologos Castle in Casale Monferrato .

Three days to retrace its history, appreciate its rediscovered and/or revisited qualities, but also to analyze it, get to know it and understand it through a slow time to be consumed within a historical framework, which exudes a great and important past. The event is included among the dates of the Alto Piemonte – Gran Monferrato calendar European City of Wine 2024 .

For its "debut in society", the samples of the 2023 harvest will be accompanied by exceptional godfathers and godmothers such as: Grignolino himself (who this year celebrated his first 50 years of DOC), in the different typologies and vintages, the Barbera del Monferrato Casalese docg, the Rubino di Cantavenna doc and the Gabiano doc.

Among the novelties of this new edition, the corner dedicated to "Guest Wines ", which this year will be Timorasso and Monferace. Then, the inclusion of a new day dedicated to Ho.re.ca. and sector journalists/bloggers.

The event will be enriched, on Sunday 19 May, by a technical-scientific focus to explore the issues of vine health (Pilot Project on 204 Alessandria vineyards conducted by the Alessandria Defense Consortium on Flavescence Dorata) and to address the new legal provisions related to labeling (the digital solution to manage the list of ingredients and nutritional values on labels).

Saturday 18 May

Grand opening with the young evening of food and wine in music with DJ Set Vinly Set by Frsnts&Friends, for a classic rock, pop, disco, funky and house programme.

During the evening, Tasting Desk curated by Ais and producers in the courtyard of the Monferrato Castle with food by the Monferrato Regional Enoteca.

Sunday 19 May (11am-7pm)

Face to face with the producers with tasting stands in the courtyard and in the Manica Lunga of the Castle, food from the Monferrato Regional Enoteca and visits to the Andrea Desana National DOC Centre.

At 10.30 am Technical-scientific conference in the Marescalchi Hall of the Castle. Free admission.

Monday 20 May (10.30am-1.30pm)

Masterclass led by the President of Ais Piemonte Mauro Carosso and the oenologist Mario Ronco on the wines protected by the Consortium and on the samples of the 2023 harvest referring to the different production areas, to discover the wine to come. At the end, tasting table curated by Ais and buffet. Participation reserved for Ho.re.ca. and sector journalists/bloggers.
