Ribbon cutting for the new headquarters of Feudo Antico , an archeo-enology project in the heart of Abruzzo, scheduled for Saturday 10 July at 10.30 in Contrada San Pietro, in the Municipality of Tollo (Chieti). The architectural complex is located in the archaeological site of the Roman villa of the imperial era discovered in 2013, during the soil preparation work for the first replanting of Pecorino. The initiative also sees the creation of a seat-museum for the enhancement and protection of these ancient finds. The inauguration will be preceded by the presentation of the agreement between the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Chieti and Pescara and Feudo Antico Srl, during the conference entitled “Vinum bonum laetificat cor hominis”. Archeo-enology as an opportunity for the development and enhancement of the territory . Participants will be Rosaria Mencarelli, Director of the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the provinces of Chieti and Pescara, Emanuele Imprudente , Vice President of the Abruzzo Region, Lorenzo Sospiri , President of the Regional Council, Angelo Radica , Mayor of Tollo, and Vittorio Di Carlo , President of Ancient Feud. “It's a great day for Feudo Antico. Under the high supervision of the Superintendency, we brought to light and restored part of the Roman villa found in 2013, making it accessible to the public - declares Vittorio Di Carlo - We wanted to create a business complex that from an architectural point of view was the lightest and most respectful. possible of the surrounding environment, avoiding false allusions and indeed clearly marking the difference between the work of our glorious ancestors and the current realization. Thanks to the inspiration and wisdom of the designers who have married the idea with passionate commitment and to the workers who have put all their experience in the field, today we can enjoy this structure of great value, delicately nestled between the sea, the Maiella and the Gran Sasso ". Commercial fulcrum of Feudo Antico , the new headquarters will host a showroom, a wine shop and spaces for offices, for the storage and aging of bottles and for aging in amphora.
Ancient Feud
Feudo Antico was born in 2004 giving life to an experimental project of archaeoenology in the territory of Tollo (Chieti). The intent is to revitalize indigenous crops and protect a fragile environment, while strengthening the community's sense of belonging. Distributed only in the Ho.Re.Ca sector, Feudo Antico today focuses mainly on the DOCG Tullum, the denomination established in 2008 and elevated to DOCG in 2019 that promotes local varieties such as Montepulciano, Passerina and Pecorino. It currently produces around 150,000 bottles of which 58% are sold abroad, mainly in Europe.
