Through the use of the main digital platforms, two advertising spots were broadcast which highlighted the excellence of the Sicilian wine territory. " The DOC Sicilia commercials, which went online in recent months " - states Giuseppe Bursi, Vice President of the Consortium - " were designed to promote the uniqueness of our land, highlighting the Grillo and Nero d'Avola wines in particular. objective was to convey the welcoming atmosphere of Sicily's wine, characterized by bright colours, authentic sounds and intense flavours, all elements that find expression in DOC Sicilian wines, in fact, our mission always remains that of describing quality and excellence. excellence of the wines of the denomination ." These commercials aired at an important time for the Consortium, which is experiencing growing interest from consumers, especially for its white wines. Sicily, in fact, known as the largest organic vineyard in Italy, with over 29,000 hectares cultivated, continues to grow thanks to the constant appreciation for this type of wine.“ Today's consumers - continues Bursi - show a marked preference for white wines, a trend dictated in particular by Grillo DOC Sicilia, a symbolic wine and ambassador of the island in the world. This success is supported by significant investments in research and quality, as well as by a high level of hospitality offered by local wineries. Even in a complex year like 2023, the sector has shown remarkable resilience: despite recording a reduction in harvests due to extreme climatic events and downy mildew, white wines and organic crops have driven the region on the national market. Great quality, distinctive identity, targeted marketing strategies and effective promotional activities: these are the assets on which the Sicilian DOC Wine Protection Consortium is working to promote the uniqueness of Sicilian wines with Controlled Designation of Origin, factors that highlight the ability of these products to embody both the tradition and modernity of Sicilian wine as well as to intercept the tastes of the contemporary consumer. CONSORTIUM FOR THE PROTECTION OF DOC WINE SICILIA The Consortium for the protection of DOC Sicilia wines (siciliadoc.wine) came to life in 2012, with the aim of representing the wine of the Sicilian territory and promoting the DOC Sicilia denomination, with actions aimed at increasing the visibility of a trademark symbol of Made in Italy and to the protection and supervision in defense of consumers and producers. Almost 8,000 winemakers and around 500 bottlers are promoters of the Controlled Designation of Origin, a useful recognition to represent them but also to enhance and safeguard the island's wine production.
