A petition to support Pink Wine , the emoji dedicated to pink wine created by the Consortium for the protection of Chiaretto di Bardolino to put an end to the "digital discrimination" of rosés, who do not currently have their own representation that can be used on WhatsApp and other social networks average. The signature collection, active on the change.org platform , was launched on the occasion of OggiRosa , the event in Bardolino (Verona) dedicated to Italian pink wines, which presented to the public the historical designations of origin of Chiaretto di Bardolino, Valtènesi, del Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, Castel del Monte Rosato and Bombino Nero, Salice Salentino Rosato and Cirò Rosato, whose consortia are all members of Rosautoctono (the Institute for Italian Autochthonous Pink Wine), in addition to Prosecco Doc Rosé. Franco Cristoforetti , president of both Chiaretto di Bardolino and Rosautoctono, is the first signature at the bottom of the petition in support of the request for the introduction of a pink wine emoticon: the application was formally sent by the Consortium for the protection of Chiaretto di Bardolino to Unicode Consortium , the Californian body that oversees the rules of computer writing. “We all use emoticons to communicate quickly on WhatsApp and on the main social networks - explains Franco Cristoforetti - but pink wine is still excluded, despite the exponential growth it has had all over the world and also in Italy. It is a legacy of certain absurd prejudices towards pink wines, which are instead the oldest type of wine, with origins from the Roman era in northern Italy and Greek in southern Italy. Today the movement of Italian pink wine is fortunately growing strongly: the Rosautocono Consortia put together a total production of 22 million bottles from Veneto, Lombardy, Abruzzo, Puglia and Calabria, while Prosecco Doc Rosé in its first six months of vita has already produced over 47 million bottles . We want this reality to find its own expression in the daily communication that we all do with our mobile phones and our PCs ". To create the Pink Wine emoji proposal, the Consorzio del Chiaretto di Bardolino left nothing to chance: the design was entrusted to the Veronese studio Paffi, recently included by ADI in the shortlist of the finalists of the Compasso d'Oro 2022. for the creation of another set of icons, those dedicated to the Covid emergency. The drawing sent to Unicode is the average of the graphic signs and shades of pink already present in the symbol sets of all smartphones. "Our request - concludes Cristoforetti - has already been around the world, also taken up by major international newspapers, such as The Times , The Daily Telegraph and the BBC: it is a sign that the time is ripe to give a new image to pink wine . We invite all wine lovers to join the petition in order to finally be able to declare, even graphically, our love for pink wine ".
