Saturday 3 October , from 2.30pm to 6.00pm , The Cecchetto Giorgio Farm will host its 22nd inclusive grape harvest together with the young people of the Italian Association of People with Down Syndrome (AIPD) – Marca Trevigiana Section . As has been the case every year since 2005, the day will be made possible by Raboso del Piave , a native grape variety that has become a symbol of encounter, participation, and connection with the local area . This year , the event will expand to the community , and the grape harvest will no longer be a moment reserved only for the AIPD young people, but rather an opportunity shared with young people of different ages and their families, accompanied by three workshops inspired by the company's values : a concrete way to instill a culture of inclusion from an early age, placing at the center what unites people, such as teamwork, mutual support, and a goal to achieve together.
For the AIPD youth, the grape harvest is a tangible experience of collaboration and autonomy: together with the other participants, they will pick the first bunches of Raboso and try their hand at crushing and pressing the grapes using an ancient press, side by side, sharing the same tasks and toil. The project will continue in the spring, when the youth will return to the winery to bottle the wine and package it with labels designed and signed by each of them. A journey that, at various editions, has extended from the vineyard to Vinitaly, where the bottles were presented at the Veneto Region stand.
"Every year, the harvest with AIPD reminds us that doing business can also mean creating concrete opportunities for participation and sharing," says Marco Cecchetto, winemaker and owner of the company . "For us, Raboso del Piave is no longer just a native grape variety to be preserved and promoted, but a symbol of community : its harvest is a time for meeting, helping one another, and strengthening bonds. This year, we've chosen to open this day to everyone, not just the association's young people, because we believe that inclusion is built precisely this way: by doing something together, with a common goal, without making disability the focus but rather becoming a natural part of a collaborative group. We want younger people to grow up accustomed to this perspective, and that's why we've combined the harvest with three workshops, designed to share, through play and creativity, some of the values we believe in."
Alongside the grape harvest, there will be three activities designed for young people of different ages: Independent Play will offer younger children a space in the vineyard to explore the environment through play, materials, and natural elements related to the grape harvest; Creativity will involve children and families in creating their own bunch of grapes using paint, paper, glue, and scissors; and Sustainability , finally, will encourage the creative reuse of corks and other materials, transforming them into new objects through imagination.
