The Emilian company presents the newcomer of the historic selection: Pra di Bosso Noir

Pra di Bosso, the iconic line of the Casali Viticultori selection, is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of its history this year, which began with Lambrusco Secco in the 1970s together with the production of the first Classic Method of Emilia-Romagna. There is no company in the Emilia area that can boast of having bottled a line that is still on the market 50 years ago.

Vinitaly 2023 will therefore be an opportunity to toast this important milestone at the stand ( Hall 1 - Stand A2-B1 ) on Monday 3 April at 11.30 .

During the event, the newcomer to the Pra di Bosso line will also be presented: Pra di Bosso Noir , a sweet Lambrusco Reggiano DOC , born to enhance the ampelographic heritage of Reggio, in particular of the Ancellotta vine, a variety often vinified with Lambrusco grapes.

"The name Pra di Bosso recalls the ability of this wine to draw boundaries. The boxwood plant was in fact used to mark the end of one vineyard and the beginning of another. This is how Pra di Bosso still behaves today, remaining the unique and incomparable comparison for the production of the classic Lambrusco Reggiano" explains the President of Casali Viticultori Davide Frascari , as well as president of the Emilia Wine Group and the Regional Enoteca.

"The potential of this wine is enormous: we have to think of it as a new sparkling experience . Lambrusco is a low-alcohol, sparkling wine with excellent acidity, the perfect partner for modern Italian cuisine. To approach this type cooking requires an equally clean, fresh wine that can satisfy the palate and Lambrusco is perfect for the case. Today is finally the ideal time to make all its potential known".

VINEYARD FARMHOUSES

The history of Casali Viticultori begins in 1900 when Giuseppe Casali decided to transform his family production into a real business. The first cellar, located close to the ancient Rocca dei Boiardo di Scandiano, with the growing success of the wines on the market and the necessary increase in production, became too small and so it moved in the 80s to its current location in Pratissolo di Scandiano .

During the excavations for the construction of the new cellar, a slab dated between 50 BC and 50 AD was found bearing the engraving "Ca' Bezina", the name of an important patrician family. It was precisely from this engraving that the name assigned to the first bottles of Classic Method of Emilia-Romagna put on the market was chosen, subsequently perfected in "Ca' Besina".

Today Casali Viticoltori continues to represent a point of reference for the wine production of the Reggio area and at the end of 2014 it became part of the Emilia Wine Group, a cooperative born from the union of three historic local wineries with more than 700 members and 1870 hectares between the river PO, the via Emilia and the Emilian Apennines.

PRA DRY BOXWOOD

The label represents an important piece of history of the Casali company, as well as the first step of this family of winemakers in innovation. In the 1970s the Casali family decided to go to Reims, in Champagne, to experience the production secrets of the most famous sparkling wine in the world firsthand. After this experience, the foundations were laid for the production of the first Classic Method of Emilia-Romagna: Cà Besina. During the journey, Casali discovered a church with beautiful stained glass windows, one of them depicted a countryside scene. It is said that this was the real inspiration for the Pra di Bosso label. Looking at the label, in fact, you can see the typical cuts of leaded glass. The two people who work in the fields are Massimo Casali and his wife Anna, against the backdrop of the splendid Reggio hills.

PRA DI BOSSO NOIR

Pra di Bosso Noir was born from a project to enhance the ampelographic heritage of Reggio, in particular of the Ancellotta vine, a variety often vinified with Lambrusco grapes, but rarely highlighted. The Pra di Bosso blend has the strength to integrate this vine and enhance its characteristics, giving life to a sweet Lambrusco Reggiano DOC, balanced, complex and harmonious, the perfect complement to the classic Pra di Bosso line. The intense tone of dark red color distinguishes this wine, revealing the presence of the Ancellotta vine and recalling the deep tones of Rosa Baccara.

The Pra di Bosso label dresses up here for another occasion. Evening falls on the hills, Massimo and Anna Casali return home, the fox and the hare, typical nocturnal animals, populate the fields. Noir, like the night and the deep colors that we find in a glass of sweet Pra di Bosso.
