Berliner Wein Trophy: the best cooperative in Italy is Cantina Tollo

For the fifth consecutive year, Cantina Tollo has won the Best Cooperative Italy award at the Berliner Wein Trophy , the international wine competition organized by the DWM Deutsch Wein Marketing agency which, under the patronage of the OIV - International Organization of Vine and Wine and 'UIOE – Union Internationale des Oenologues is one of the most important and prestigious events in the wine world. The Theatine group has won thirteen medals with its wines. To compete in the category reserved for cooperatives, it was necessary to win at least five of them. “We are extremely proud of this important recognition – declares Luciano Gagliardi , president of Cantina Tollo -. For more than sixty years, our goal has been to represent a point of reference for Abruzzo and for the Italy of wine. Being elected the best Italian cooperative for five consecutive years is a great reason for satisfaction, which spurs us to continue the path undertaken in the name of environmental, economic and social sustainability and the increasingly high quality of our wines". There are ten gold medals that Cantina Tollo was awarded with its wines during 2023 , in the winter tasting of the Berliner Wein Trophy : Cagiòlo Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Dop Riserva 2018, Terre Del Vento Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Dop 2022, Senza Time Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Dop 2021, Sassopiano Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Reserve Dop 2019, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Dop Reserve 2019, Trebbiano Passerina Terre di Chieti Igp 2022, Orapiena Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Dop Reserve 2019, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Dop Reserve 2020, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Dop Organic 2022 and Sassianello Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Dop Riserva 2019. In addition to these, the wines of Feudo Antico , a company of the Theatine group, were also able to conquer the jury. In fact, they were awarded three gold medals for Rosso Riserva Tullum Docg 2018, Pecorino Terre di Chieti Igp 2022 and Rosso Tullum Docg 2018.

Cantina Tollo is today one of the most important and consolidated companies in the Italian wine sector. It markets 13 million bottles a year, boasts about 700 members and 2,700 hectares cultivated in an area that has always been suited to wine production. The vineyards of Cantina Tollo extend from the hills of the coast to the slopes of the Maiella, in a typically Mediterranean climate, characterized by significant temperature variations. The production is concentrated on the typical and native vines of the area (montepulciano, trebbiano, pecorino, passerina, majolica and cococciola), traditionally cultivated with pergolas, with a marked vocation for experimentation in the field and in the cellar. The bottles of Cantina Tollo are distributed in all Italian regions, in almost all the countries of the European Union, in particular Germany, the Netherlands, France, Denmark and the United Kingdom and, overseas, in Japan, the United States, Canada. Cantina Tollo is also present in the markets of Russia, India and China.
