The national meeting of Go Wine members opened the day with delegations from five Italian regions.
The Wine Festival celebrates its 25th edition with record numbers which consolidate the event even further, confirming the choice to take place on two Sundays and offering an important opportunity during the harvest period to liven up the historic center of the city, marking important numbers for the overall presence of wineries and audiences from many countries and many Italian regions.
An event that has grown over the years, which maintains a strong attraction for wine enthusiasts and which Go Wine manages according to certain sustainability criteria (unchanged over the years), achieving the usual objective: bringing together in a single context wineries with many faces of men and women of wine and those who are looking for this very meeting, in the traditional period of the harvest.
An event that opens up to the Alba autumn events marked by the great International Alba White Truffle Fair, but does so with ever-increasing numbers as could be seen while walking through the historic center of the city yesterday, Sunday 24 September.
A special edition because from this year Go Wine, a national association that promotes wine culture and wine tourism based in Alba, has combined the Wine Festival with the final ceremony of the Drinking the territory literary competition, which took place on Saturday afternoon 23 September at the Sala of the Masks of the Grinzane Cavour Castle; the event was also honored by many Go Wine members who came from various delegations (Cagliari, Prato, Livorno, Reggio Emilia, Milan, Genoa Savona, Turin), living for two days in the area and participating in the national meeting of Go Wine members took place on Sunday morning.
After the positive results of the first Sunday, the numbers of September 24th were confirmed and strengthened, as we report in this press release, with some records already recorded in the presale phase.
“At the moment of the final balance we must first of all thank all those who collaborated in the success of the event – they say from Go Wine. To the wineries, to the general public of wine enthusiasts, to the many Go Wine members present. But also to the local institutions that work every day to promote it, inviting more and more people to reach Alba, the Langhe and the Roero. In this edition the themes of culture, research, new proposals (the wines of the world for example) have accompanied the route of the wine route, broadening the offer of this event, destined to continue to grow in the future".
Numbers and attendance of the two Sundays of the Wine Festival:
28 municipalities of Langa and Roero represented, over 90 wineries present with their wines. The novelty of a section regarding Monferrato with 9 wineries present.
To accompany the ideal journey through cellars and wines, there was no shortage of local gastronomic specialities, with many artisans of taste present.
Interesting news on public attendance, with data from the pre-sale for the second Sunday, which ended on the afternoon of Saturday 23 September:
- recorded ticket purchases and attendance from the United States (Texas, Portland, Georgia), Brazil, Europe: with attendance from Great Britain, Sweden, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Norway and Denmark.
- registered in Italy ticket purchases from 10 different Italian regions, in addition to Piedmont.
Among the events of the second day, the presentation of the GRASPO Association: born in Veneto, it promotes the recovery of ancient and abandoned minor vines. His book was awarded by the Drinking the territory competition in the presence of Aldo Lorenzoni; on Sunday afternoon the oenologist Luigino Bertolazzi presented 5 totally unknown grape varieties-wines, the result of microvinifications and experiments, in a context of great attention from the wine enthusiasts who participated in the event.
Among the events of the day also the Enoteca dei Vini del Mondo : a parallel journey which, through a selection of 31 wines, presented labels from all the continents, including native varieties and original interpretations of the main international varieties.
