A great 2024 for the Vermouth of Turin

Vermouth di Turin , a typical excellence of Piedmont, is becoming increasingly trendy in Italy and around the world: five million bottles produced, exports to more than 80 countries , growing consumption. There will be many initiatives organized during the year by the Consortium which protects this product from imitations and improper uses of the Protected Geographical Indication. A precious PGI , because it has only been granted to the Vermouth of Turin which, following a precise specification, is made with Italian wines and perfumed with Piedmontese absinthe, medicinal herbs and exotic spices. This is the only Vermouth in the world to have this recognized status . It is a truly important recognition that the Consortium is committed to defending and enhancing with many actions on the national and international markets. Six new production companies have recently joined the Consortium, which represents almost the entire Denomination: Amistà, Gran Torino 1861, Azienda Agricola La Palera di Bellardi Franco, Toso, Società Agricola Tenute Sussambrino, Vermouth Strucchi. A great deal of work will be carried out by the Consortium to make the concept of uniqueness and value that distinguishes the Vermouth of Turin ever stronger. Its knowledge will be widely promoted through numerous and qualified activities. We will start in March with the "Slow Wine Tour USA" which will visit Washington, New York, Austin, Denver and San Francisco . At the end of June there will be the now classic "Vermouth di Torino Week" , the international week of Vermouth di Torino. This initiative, conceived by the Consortium, has now reached its third edition. Given the historical ties with the subalpine city, it will have Turin as its beating heart. But it won't stop there, because this special “Vermouth di Torino week” will see events organized simultaneously in many parts of Italy, Europe and the world . There will be thematic meetings dedicated to the reality of Turin Vermouth, in-depth events on its history, the birth and development of the aperitif ritual, the use of Turin Vermouth pure, in mixing, and its combinations. All this in the presence of journalists, industry experts, bartenders, chefs and consumers. In the same period, the "General States of Vermouth of Turin" will be convened at the Banca del Vino di Pollenzo. We will thus take stock of the most important aspects that characterize the development of this denomination on a global level. There will also be the appointment of new "Certified Ambassadors" who with passion and professionalism are dedicated to making Vermouth di Turin known. It will be a great summer. On an international level, in June there will be participation in Barconvent Brooklyn in New York , in July it will continue with Imbibe Live in London. A dense network of on-site and online seminars will be addressed to industry professionals in Canada, the USA and the United Kingdom. In Italy, several communication and training sessions aimed at journalists and industry stakeholders will take place under the aegis of "L'Ora del Vermouth di Torino", a successful brand registered by the Consortium.

It's always Turin Vermouth Time. Vermouth of Turin Vermouth of Turin is the most famous Italian flavored wine, already appreciated at the royal court of Savoy. Its name derives from the German term wermut which defines Artemisia absinthium (wormwood), the main aromatic base in its preparation. From 1400, Turin's liqueur makers began to distinguish themselves for their expertise in the art of distillation until they achieved, already in the eighteenth century, great fame beyond the Italian borders. In the 19th and 20th centuries, Vermouth also became famous abroad in its two white and red variants. The development of Vermouth di Torino as we know it today, a fascinating convivial aperitif, began precisely in the Piedmontese capital. Over the years we have witnessed the evolution of processing techniques: the new ones have joined the older ones and their coexistence continues today to preserve and enhance the traditional production of this product. Vermouth di Turin is classified based on its color (White, Amber, Rosé or Red) and the quantity of sugar used in its preparation. The specification also includes the Vermouth di Torino Superiore type which refers to products with an alcoholic strength of no less than 17% vol., made with at least 50% Piedmontese wines and flavored with herbs - other than absinthe - grown or harvested in Piedmont.
