Italian wines Umbria

Wines with great aging potential and made from Sangiovese are the alter ego of the most well-known grape variety and Umbrian wine: Sagrantino di Montefalco. It is ascertained that this variety contains a very high amount of polyphenolic substances and that these can be attributed to the great proximity of this grape to wild species. In fact the wines produced here require a very long time of aging or, alternatively, of withering, as already seen in the area of Valpolicella. A white of ancient times, made by blending local grapes such as Grechetto, Trebbiano and Procanico of Orvieto Classico, which retains a certain charm among wine lovers.


The territory of Umbria has always been dedicated to the cultivation of the vine through permeable soils exposed to a good sunlight and a mild climate. Bevagna, Montefalco, the Martani hills are areas well-known to wine lovers: here Sagrantino is produced. The area of Lake Trasimeno is naturally suited to the cultivation of wine, thanks to the humidity caused by the lake. Moreover, Orvieto and Torgiano are great points of reference for Italian enology.
