Historical-cultural tips and curiosities: The production of Lugana goes back to about a century ago, but viticulture, in the territory of Lake Garda, dates back to the Bronze Age. Like other vineyards, even Trebbiano di Lugana had to endure centuries of wars and diseases such as powdery mildew and phylloxera. With the end of World War II the first professional companies appointed to viticulture and vinification were finally founded, driven also by the demand for Italian quality wines that increased more and more. The Lugana denomination is one of the first in our nation (1967). Serving suggestions: Dishes based on fish and soft cheese. Excellent as an aperitif with light and not too tasty appetizers. Production area: Territories in the provinces of Brescia and Verona. Grape varieties that are allowed to produce it: 100% Trebbiano di Lugana, but grapes from other white grape varieties suitable for cultivation in Lombardy and in the province of Verona can contribute to the production (to a maximum of 10%).
