Italian White Wine Breganze Vespaiolo

Organoleptic characteristics: The Breganze Vespaiolo wine appears with from pale straw yellow to golden yellow color, has an intense, fruity, distinctive smell and in the mouth it is dry, full, fresh, with a possible hint of wood. Historical-cultural information and curiosities: The history of wine in the territory of Vicenza begins at the end of the thirteenth century, when it was ordered to of clearing the land for the cultivation of vineyards. With the Serenissima Republic of Venice the first villas surrounded by vast vineyards are built, and ways to transport wine to Venice (usually by river) are developed. Vespaiolo was consumed by the most important and noble people that came in Venice. The Vespaiola grapes suffered great damage in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and its cultivation resumed only after the end of World War II, and in 1969 the DOC Breganze (Red, Cabernet, Pinot Noir, White , Pinot Blanc and, indeed, Vespaiolo) is achieved. Serving suggestions: Excellent with dishes of fish and meat (white and red). According to tradition it accompanies the "baccalà alla vicentina" and Bassano asparagus. Production area: The entire administrative territory of the municipalities of Breganze, Fara Vicentino, Molvena, Mason Vicentino, and part of the territories of Bassano del Grappa, Lugo di Vicenza, Marostica, Montecchio Peralcino, Pianezze, Salcedo, Sandrigo, Sarcedo and Zugliano (all in province of Vicenza). Grape varieties allowed for its production: Vespaiola for a minimum of 85%.
