Italian White Wine Bianco della Valdinievole

Characteristics: The Bianco della Valdinievole wine presents itself as yellow tending to light golden straw yellow, its smell is pleasant, with hints of flowers and fruit, its taste is dry, harmonious and persistent. Historical-cultural information and curiosities: Already in the fourteenth century, the wines of this area were important and very appreciated both locally and nationally. All this is witnessed by poets and singers of the time, but also by books of accounts and land registers. The peculiarity of the land and climate, the wine-making tradition of the area and the modernization of the last centuries have made that the wines of Valdinievole present features of originality comparing to the other Tuscan wines. In 1976 the DOC was recognised to Bianco della Valdinievole, an historic wine of this area of ​​production, while the red wines otained the DOC only in 2010. Serving suggestions: It is accompanied by soups and typical Tuscan dishes, and gives its best with dishes based on fish. Production area: The terriotory for the production of Valdinievole wines is in the province of Pistoia and includes the entire administrative territory of the municipalities of Buggiano, Chiesina Uzzanese, Lamporecchio, Larciano, Marliana, Massa and Cozzile, Monsummano Terme, Montecatini Terme, Pescia, Pieve a Nievole, Ponte Buggianese and Uzzano. Grape varieties allowed for its production: Tuscan Trebbiano grape (70% minimum). White berry grape varieties suitable for the cultivation within the Tuscany region, alone or in combination, can contribute to the production 30% maximum.
