Italian wines Campania

Campania is the cradle of Italian viticulture. The soils of volcanic origin, the proximity to the sea, the sunny climate and the accuracy of local farmers have made possible a production of wine that is always blooming and of quality even in the most difficult moments. Already in the Roman times, the wines from Aglianico grapes coming from the best areas of Massico and Irpinia were vinified and jars opened after a century. Although they were very different wines compared to the ones of today, the value of this land is unquestionable. Taurasi is the most important denomination of the South and Aglianico its strong dorsal. Wines of remarkable respect are those obtained from Greco and Fiano, always in the province of Avellino. The Phlegraean Fields offer a very pleasant Falanghina, as well as the area of Sannio. We are surprised, as you do not expect to find vineyards on the slopes overlooking the sea, literrally stuck in the rocks of the Amalfi coast. Furore is the local symbol, and the varieties here vinified are Ginestra, Fenile and Piedirosso. The discovery of many ancient varieties is the result of the extraordinary evolution occurred centuries ago, and Pallagrello and Casavecchia are two good examples of successful interpretations.
