Sangiovese di Toscana

It is a red grape grown exclusively in Tuscany. Unlike Sangiovese di Romagna, it is the basis of many Tuscan red wines (Rosso di Montalcino, Chianti, Nobile di Montepulciano). There are two varieties: Sangiovese Grosso, which includes the variety of Brunello, and Sangiovese Piccolo. Sangiovese di Toscana has experienced in recent years a great popularity also in California, thanks to the success of the so–called "Supertuscans". It gives a wine with a ruby colour, a scent reminiscent of red fruits, and it is very structured. It is a symbol of Italian viticulture.
