Prosecco

It is a white grape variety of uncertain origin; it is considered likely that it comes from Prosecco, in the province of Trieste. Today the cultivation of Prosecco takes place along the left bank of the river Piave, between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, where, among other things, is the most cultivated grape. The white grapes of Prosecco give rise to a wine with a vinous scent and very fruity in the sweetest wines; the taste is pleasantly bitter and not full–bodied in the dry, semisweet or sweet types. Finally, the colour is pale yellow, more or less. This wine is very well known and appreciated since ancient times. It is the basis for one of the most successful Italian sparkling wines.
