Prädikat

Prädikat, to say "distinction", refers to a category of distinction of the wines of Germany and Austria based on the amount of sugar present in the grapes at harvest. In this way, the higher maturation is, the higher is distinction. In ascending order of ripeness they are: Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, Eiswein, Trockenbeerenauslese. The flaw in this system is to believe that the grapes with a must of higher weight produce a better wine, which does not always happen. This also implies that the Prädikat wines are sweeter than other wines.
