It ia a very refreshing drink that consists of dry white wine mixed with a small amount of creme de cassis, a sweet liqueur made from black currants. To make a "kir royale", replace the wine with Champagne. The drink is named after Félix Kir (1876–1968), who was mayor of the French city of Dijon.
