Cinsaut or Cinsault

It is a red grape variety, known for its high adaptability and productivity, cultivated in the South of France and in the former French colonies of Morocco and Algeria and in South Africa. Ideal for rosé wine making, it produces a rather simple wine, with low tannins, which has a flavour with bitter aftertaste. To confer a sweeter flavor and fruity, in France it is vinified together with the Grenache and Carignan. In South Africa it has been crossed with the Pinot Noir grape creating the "Pinotage" grape variety.
