Cannonau

It is the most popular red grape in Sardinia and probably comes from the Iberian Peninsula: according to many scholars, in effect, Cannonau is nothing but a clone of Spanish "Grenache". Cannonau’s cultivation is concentrated in the most central areas of Sardinia. From Cannonau grapes we obtain mainly red or rosé Cannonau di Sardegna obtained from at least 90% of Cannonau grapes. This wine, before being tasted, must age at least a year in oak or chestnut. Moreover, through fermentation we can obtain Cannonau Rosato or, through the addition of alcohol, Fortified Cannonau.
