The National Council of Italian Wine opens in Brescia "Il Bere Consapevole" ("A Conscious Drinking"), a pilot project on wine consumption among young people.

These are the first concrete steps moved by the National Council of Italian Wine – Co.N.V.I. that at Expo 2015 presented itself officially with a very clear message: to join forces to develop specific and effective projects, promoting the Italian wine heritage involving above all the younger generations. Leader of this first program dedicated to students is Pia Donata Berlucchi, promoter of the initiative in the first person.

«In a country of individualists like Italy – Pia Berlucchi, Co.N.V.I school project manager, explains – tuning becomes extraordinary, implemented in a few months, among many associations. The first objective of Co.N.V.I. focuses on young people, to build a bridge between tradition and the future represented by our children. The idea is to gather all our historical and environmental heritage to introduce wine and its knowledge as part of our national identity».

A strong provocation, to which educators have promptly responded: Monday, 16th November 2015, in Brescia, at the Mantegna Hotel Institute, the first pilot project will be inaugurated, the forerunner of a series of initiatives that will involve the whole national territory, towards which as many as 50 schools in Lombardy alone have already expressed interest.

Thanks to the contribution of Mario Maviglia, director of the Regional School Office for Lombardy, who was enthusiastic about the proposal, in six schools in the Province of Brescia the agenda of the meetings with the title "A Conscious Drinking – wine among young people through education and culture" has been fixed, which includes four lessons of wine history. In every school a public from 150 to 300 students will have the opportunity to grasp the knowledge of the Italian winemaking tradition and its significance in the history, but also to promote the theme of responsible consumption.

«The goal of ONAV and of Co.N.V.I. – Pia Berlucchi concludes – is to bring these cultural interventions on the history of wine in every city and to submit to the Ministry of Education the carried out program, to ensure that it shares with the High Schools in Italy the message that wine is an extraordinary tool and a messenger of culture and communication».
