But I would like to point out that companies are international by nature, they aim at a global market and need laws that facilitate integration and acceptance between peoples or nations", declared Sandro Bottega, a wine entrepreneur at the head of the historic company Bottega SpA of Bibano (TV), one of the leaders in Italy for the production of Prosecco . "Localism for Italian SMEs would be a death sentence and we can even less afford to exclude some countries from the markets based on the skin color of their inhabitants. I will not go into the details of political issues because it is not my responsibility, but I believe it is important to point out a bureaucratic problem linked to the integration of employees and customer visits. A problem does exist. If our company has to invite customers who, as often happens, come from distant countries and who need a visa from our Consulate, the procedure is long, bureaucratic and complicated and we run the risk of having the image of a country that is not open to the world and to the international market and which therefore effectively closes the barriers to our products. Just these days we are dealing with an invitation from some customers in Dubai who are worth several hundred thousand bottles, but who are unable, two months later, to obtain the visa that should arrive from our Consulate. We at Bottega spa have also intervened in person to urge, but we have not yet received any response. Then think about the difficulties we have when we have to look for workers: today it is practically impossible! The world, whether we like it or not, will still move towards a spirit of globalization and, even if it is essential that each nation and people maintain their own identity, we must look at the positive side of the spirit of integration that is also part of us Italians because we ourselves are the result of a succession of invasions that have led to the wealth of our country and our culture. Maybe we need to think more about the fact that we could be better in 100 years, we will have our roots firmly in place and enriched by the cultures of peoples who have been able to give their contribution, such as the intelligence and organization of Americans, the loyalty and ethics of Northern Europeans, the kindness and savoir-faire of Asians and perhaps even the determination of African peoples who know hunger and humility. And we, in the same way, will teach them a lot too: from art to philosophy, from history to cooking, from respect for the environment to design and technology. Today, in fact, we eat sushi and drink beer, things that did not exist in the past, we use cell phones produced in China and invented by Americans and so on", Bottega concluded.
