Discovering wine at Only Wine: free Wine Tastings, Speed Wine, Wine Coach, themed Tastings

The program of Only Wine has several ways to get closer to the wines of young producers. Wine lovers, curious ones and professionals are invited to stroll freely among tasting counters in the heart of Città di Castello to enjoy the precious wines narrated directly by young producers.

But this is not all: there will be tastings with really original format, like the Speed Wine dedicated to those who want to get closer to wine with a few basic steps: the professionals of AIS will held rapid courses of approach to tasting.

Moreover, AIS sommeliers will reveal secrets and ideal pairings with guided tours through the stands, becoming real Wine Coach.

Not to be missed, the fascinating guided tastings. Many are the wine regions that AIS will narrate during the meetings: Umbria, Marche, Emilia Romagna and Liguria.

Last but not least, Luca Martini, elected the Best Sommelier in the World 2013, will accompany the wine lovers to the discovery of the "Soul of the territories of Wine": a vintage tasting of 8 Italian wines, on Saturday 18th at 9:00 p.m. and to the discovery of "Amarone: the secret of withering between perception and substance", on Sunday, 19th April, at 3:30 p.m.

Food and Wine at the Only Wine Festival

Initiatives that combine wine and food could not miss. A particularly interesting one is Art Food, where food becomes the object of the works of artists from all over the world, but also the opportunity for the public to enjoy art. Everything will be completed by the pairing of a good wine.

Traditional food and wine will be interpreted by the young students of the local schools, especially of the Ugo Patrizi State Institute for Agriculture and Environment and the Cavallotti Hotel, Trade and Tourism Professional Institute, offering the public products and activities with the enthusiasm of those who look at the world of work, from school already.

Only Wine will also be the place of meeting and exchange between the world of wine and the one of catering, thanks to the presence of Michelin–starred chefs, oenologists, sommeliers, winemakers. Only Wine meets the wines of the Balkans

Special guests will be the fine wines of the lands of the Balkans. You can taste the full–bodied and longeval red wines and the elegant white wines of Bulgaria, the aromatic nectars of Romania, then moving to the wines of Macedonia, such as Vranec, then to Serbia, with its round red wines, produced with the Prokupac grape variety and Croatia, with its standard–bearer, the powerful red wine Plavac Mali, to arrive, finally, to Greece and Turkey, respectively, with the Assyrtiko and the delicate Öküzgözü, a native of Eastern Anatolia, or the very rare Karazakis.

Wine and Culture

Only Wine Festival promotes wine as a cultural heritage, enriching the program. There will be some themed cultural events.

On Sunday, 19th April, in the morning, at 10:00 a.m., the Council Hall of the Municipality of Città di Castello will host the Conference on the Internationalization of young producers and small wineries at Expo 2015. On Saturday 18th, at 5:00 p.m., however, Palazzo Lignani Marchesani will host a talk show on the theme "Viticulture in Umbria: tradition and innovation".
