Locanda Costasera , the restaurant of Masi Monteleone21 , has been included in Wine Enthusiast's prestigious international ranking of "Best Winery Restaurants 2026." This year's edition selects 57 establishments from around the world: Locanda Costasera in Valpolicella is one of only six Italian establishments present and the only one representing the Northeast , alongside four prestigious Tuscan restaurants and one in Campania.
In presenting a selection ranging from informal options to more elaborate gastronomic experiences, all sharing the same ability to showcase wine and the local area, Wine Enthusiast emphasizes how winery restaurants reflect the very identity of the wineries that host them. They are not simply restaurants in cellars, but true destinations, deeply rooted in their location and capable of expressing their own distinctive identity, thus becoming a reason for travel and offering a more authentic and in-depth way to experience the wine regions they represent . An identity that, in the case of Locanda Costasera, is perceived as "the warmest and most authentic side of traditional Valpolicella hospitality" by the magazine's review.
The restaurant's offerings are built around the "wine first" philosophy: wine is the starting point of the gastronomic journey and guides the dialogue with a cuisine that ranges from traditional to international influences. Completing the experience is a mixology offering with signature wine-based cocktails, a journey that showcases the entire Masi portfolio and conveys, through flavor, the history of the winery and the region .
The Locanda Costasera restaurant is one of the heart of Monteleone21 , a new wine tourism hub in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region. Designed as an open, multifunctional space, it combines wine culture with gastronomy, hospitality, and new forms of hospitality. A place designed to engage and excite a growing public, it's generating considerable interest.
Even professionals and the media have grasped its scope and values: the ability to express wine, history, art, territory, and high-level contemporary architecture. It is with this perspective that Monteleone21 will be the protagonist of the fifth season of BEVI – L'Arte del Vinificare , the Sky Arte docuseries that, starting Saturday, September 12th at 8:40 pm, will revisit the stories of people and families involved in winemaking through historic cellars and signature architecture, landscapes, and hospitality venues.
The first episode, entitled “Monteleone21, the new home of Amarone” , will take viewers on a discovery of Masi and the Valpolicella Classica region with Sandro Boscaini, President of Masi , Federico Girotto, CEO , and Raffaele Boscaini, Marketing Director and sixth generation of the family .
" Since the beginning, the project has attracted growing interest and recognition from the public, the trade, and the press, especially from the world of wine tourism, demonstrating that we are going in the right direction. We are encouraged to further strengthen the Masi Wine Experience with increasingly open and inclusive proposals, capable of establishing a dialogue between the culture of wine and the interests and languages of today's public, and of offering new ways to learn about, experience, and share Valpolicella, in its historical and traditional aspects, but also in its projection into the future ," declares Sandro Boscaini .
Starting in September, the Masi Wine Experience program will feature new events and experiences: active events designed for wellness enthusiasts, kid-friendly events for families and children, and cultural events dedicated to art, photography, and literature. The fall season will kick off with the Sunset Experience , Thursday, September 3rd, on the Monteleone21 terrace: from golden hour until evening, aperitifs, a buffet, a selection of signature wines, and live music with a DJ set.
