Three days of meetings, visits, tastings for journalists and wine professionals to discover the South Tyrolean wine world, but the Consortium is already looking beyond: the project for the new geographical delimitation of the DOC, the implementation of the 2030 Agenda in the name of sustainability and a great harvest 2021 that has all the prerequisites to reconfirm the very high quality, known throughout the world, of Alto Adige wines.

From 9 to 12 September, journalists and professionals in the world of wine, from 9 different countries, had the opportunity, by invitation, to get to know the ' world of contrasts ' - to which this third edition of the event was dedicated - which characterizes the wonderful South Tyrolean territory, unique for its variety of vines, soils and microclimates.

" We are happy and proud - comments Andreas Kofler, president of the Consorzio Vini Alto Adige - to have been able to welcome more than 100 personalities from the wine world divided into small groups to ensure maximum safety. The event, which is organized by the Consorzio Vini Alto Adige, it was made possible thanks also to the commitment of all the subjects and institutions involved and to all the South Tyrolean producers who have spent these days to best convey our immense and varied oenological heritage . "

The Alto Adige Wine Summit was animated by a full program of activities such as visits to the vineyards, face-to-face meetings with the 80 South Tyrolean winemakers involved, exclusive tastings - with over 260 wines that accompanied the participants on a journey into the wine culture of South Tyrol - and starry dinners in dreamy places like the Alpe di Siusi huts, in the magnificent amphitheater of the Dolomites. All activities aimed precisely at telling this very varied land, a characteristic that is faithfully reflected in the wine production of the territory. Suffice it to say that in a myriad of vineyards that range from the Mediterranean climate of the valley floor to altitudes exceeding 1000 meters, more than 20 different vines are grown, and all this thanks to the meticulous work carried out both by individual winemakers and by wineries of long tradition.
Furthermore, the Consortium proposed digital appointments dedicated to the authoritative representatives of the wine world from Hong Kong, Japan, Russia and the United States during which it was possible to compare and have interesting exchanges between all the subjects involved aimed at strengthening the relationship with very important such as the American and Asian ones.

" This third edition - says Eduard Bernhart, Director of the Consortium - was also an opportunity to take stock of the current situation of the sector: in a complicated economic situation, Alto Adige of wine has worked to keep the sector competitive , in Italy and abroad, experimenting with new communication and sales paradigms that today allow us to be stronger, better prepared, more digital, more social, more communicative, more adaptable and more dynamic than ever ".

Alto Adige is an area in turmoil that has taken up the challenges of modern times to look and plan with foresight the near future of South Tyrolean viticulture. " A fundamental project for our territory, currently on the discussion table at ministerial level is the introduction of zoning, or the additional geographical mentions. This is an extremely important project that will give a further impulse and even more connection to our wines with the land they are born in. The zoning reflects our vision for the coming decades of South Tyrolean viticulture - explains Martin Foradori, Vice President of the Consortium .

" We are very clear on the path we want to take and for this reason, through the 2030 Agenda , we have set ourselves concrete objectives and embarked on a path that can promote and encourage sustainability, aware that the measures defined in the Agenda will require a change of thinking from part of all the players involved. Lastly, a thought for the 2021 harvest : if the weather conditions continue as in recent weeks, an excellent year awaits us and we are particularly happy because we see the great and complicated work of these months paid off . We don't want to claim victory yet, but the conditions for a truly unique year that will remain in history are all there "- adds Andreas Kofler, President of the Consortium in conclusion.
