Monferrato del vino recovers: it is the best figure of the last four years.

The total bottled of the 13 denominations protected by the Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium recorded an increase of 5% (May 31, 2021), the highest number in the last four years . A signal that exorcizes any structural crisis and underlines the solidity of an organized area that has withstood the impact of the global health crisis. Docg is doing well, with Barbera d'Asti at 1.4% , Ruché di Castagnole Monferrato at 5.7% , Nizza at 32.5% and Terre Alfieri in great recovery with 38.2% . Not even Piedmont Doc stopped its growth, with 8.1% , and the complementary total reduction of stocks stands out, with a decrease of - 44,981 hl .

" The significant increase in bottled wine confirms the solidity of our companies, which even in a period of restrictions have shown excellent resistance - declares Filippo Mobrici , President of the Barbera d'Asti and Vini del Monferrato Consortium - This highlights the healthiness of the our sector and our companies, underlining how much, in conditions of relative normality, our wines are projected to express themselves more and more. We also record with satisfaction the stability of the wholesale prices of bulk wine, an element that concerns the value and from which we cannot ignore, also to remunerate the vineyard with dignity ».

Two facts, on the other hand, allow us to open a reflection that intertwines the question of consumption. It is the rosé wine, which in the Piedmont Doc Rosato version records 171.2% and in the Monferrato Doc Chiaretto version 39.4%. Signals that serve as a thermometer to measure the liking of a typology that meets the favor of consumers, starting with its characteristics of freshness and pleasantness that are perfectly combined with summer.

« That of rosé wines is a widespread trend to which even our territory proves to be able to respond successfully - comments Mobrici - We are talking about a type that grows in appreciation, perfect for summer consumption. Monferrato is also this, a transversal proposal that manages to intercept the tastes of consumers and offer a varied proposal ».

With over 66 million bottles and more than 11 thousand hectares of vines, equal to about 30% of the DOC and DOCG area of Piedmont, the Consortium protects 13 denominations, 4 Docg (Barbera d'Asti, Nizza, Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato and Terre Alfieri) and 9 Doc (Albugnano, Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato, Dolcetto d'Asti, Freisa d'Asti, Grignolino d'Asti, Loazzolo, Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Monferrato and Piedmont).
